I can not add sales order to books.

Thank you for sharing the error message you're encountering while adding sales orders, Kathleen. The warning indicates that QuickBooks has identified that a sales order with the same number already exists in your records. Let's visit the Sales & Get Paid menu to double-check.

It’s possible that entering your sales order number manually caused this issue. To verify existing sales orders, follow these steps:

1. Go to My apps.
2. Select the Sales & Get Paid menu and then Sales orders.
3. Filter if necessary.
4. Manually double-check the sales order number under the Order No. column or sort the list to easily spot transactions with the same number. 

Once you've located the existing sales order, you'll simply have to change the number of the sales order you want to add to a unique and unused one. 

To prevent this from happening in the future, you may opt to use the Custom transaction numbers option to set your own numbering preference. To do so, simply go to the Account and settings menu from the Gear icon. From there, navigate to the Sales menu and go to the Sales form content section to activate the feature.
