I am setting this up from QB Desktop Premiere 2019 so there is no cache there... and getting the same zip code error. Not sure why QB has so many glitches being such a large company... sad
HI
I'm a CPA from Kenya, i tried opening a QBOA but could not finish setting up since the postcode is not accepted. Does this mean QBOA is only applicable in USA?
Hi is this answered?
Hello there, @Ctiyy. I want to ensure this will be taken of.
When setting up a QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, it follows the coding system for US addresses to ensure that you are compliant with the state and federal government.
To fix the invalid zip code error, let's make sure that you enter it correctly. If confirmed that you have the right code and are still unable to set up the account, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve this. Let's begin by ensuring that you signed in as the master administrator. Then, refresh your browser page by selecting the Reload icon or F5 key on your keyboard.
After that, access your company via an incognito browser to have a clean slate. Below are the keyboard shortcuts you can use:
Once done, set up your account and enter the zip code again. If it works, let's clear your regular browser's cache to refresh the background processes. If the same thing happens, I recommend using a different browser and device.
You can also use the USPS Look-up Tool to search for the exact zip code of a given street address and city. This will also ensure that you get the correct codes.
However, if the issue persists, I highly suggest reaching out to our Phone Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account to further investigate the root cause of the problem.
I'll include this helpful resource that you can use as a guide in navigating your QBO account after you successfully set it up: Getting Started in QuickBooks Online.

Hi Divina. Good day. Thank you for the details you provided. What if I am living outside of US? Can I use the zip of the client first or any temporary US number we can use?
Hi there, Ctiyy.
Yes, you can set up your account using your client's zip code. You can use the USPS Look-up Tool. From there, you can search for a zip code of a given street address and city within the given zip code. Also, you may need this article to learn more about managing your business details:

My postal code is invalid how can I do
Hi there, @Emmanuel. I'm here to help you verify the correct postal code you can use in setting up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
To start, you can use the USPS Look-up Tool to verify the correct postal code. From there, enter the address and city in the given field of the selection you choose.
However, if you can't still get the correct postal code, I recommend reaching out to our Phone support team. They use specific tools to pull up your account and verify the reason why the system can't recognize your zip code. Here's how:
Once everything is fine, you're now ready to proceed with finishing the setup of your company file. For guidance, check out this article: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, you can also change your company settings in QBO such as turning features on and off. For a detailed step, refer to this link: Edit company settings in QuickBooks Online.
