I recommend logging into your QBO account on a private browser and trying to save the employee details from there. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue that might cause you to keep getting an unexpected error.

 

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:

 

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

 

If it works in incognito, I suggest clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above don't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

I've tried different browsers, computers, and phones. And I get the same error. Actually, I get a couple of errors. Sometimes I can't add a hire date, because it says it's invalid. Then for some reason it works sometimes. Now I cant add employee address, SS#, birthdate, etc without getting the error. I didn't have that problem the first time I tried adding the employee. It was the next section where it wouldn't let me add the hire date without error. I had to delete the employee to start over, now I can enter the hire date fine and save that section. Now I can't save the info I've entered in the first section without it giving me the error "address components not found". I used QuickBooks years ago, and it was glitchy then. Seems that it's still that way.

I've tried different browsers, private tabs, different computers, and phones. Still gives me the same error. I could save the first employee section the first time I tried. It was the second section that was holding me up. It kept saying the hire date was invalid when it wasn't. I had to delete the employee to start over. Now I can enter and save the hire date in the second section, but now I get the address components not found error when trying to save the first section of the employee info. I used QuickBooks years ago, and it was glitchy like this back then. It seems it's still that way.

They have the tools to pull up your account to deep investigate the root of the problem and why the issue keeps appearing.

 

To reach them, click the ? Help button at the top-right corner and select Contact Us to talk with a live agent. Ensure to review their support hours to know when agents are available.

I encourage you to contact our payroll support team so one of the agents can check to see the root cause of the error.

 

Here's how to contact us:

 

  1. Click the ? Help icon.
  2. On the Assistant tab, enter Talk to a human.
  3. You can enter I can't save employee information.
  4. Select No.
  5. You can choose how you'll want to contact us.

Before we start, did you already followed the steps provided by my colleague @ChristieAnn? If not, perform the troubleshooting instead. We didn't receive a report about the error message you're having. 

 

Otherwise, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can take a look at this and investigate further. They have the necessary tools to pull up your account securely. You can follow the steps below:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Select either tab to get started:
    • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
    • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
      • Start a chat with a support expert.
      • Get a callback from the next available expert.
