Hello there, onewurld.

The error message you've got may be caused by too much cache stored in our browser. If you haven't tried performing some basic troubleshooting steps, you can follow the steps below to verify if this is a browser-related issue.

  1. Refresh your browser by clicking the Reload icon or pressing F5 on your keyboard.
  2. Log in to your account through an incognito window.
  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you're able to deposit the tax refund, go back to your main browser and clear the cache. This helps to refresh your browser's settings. Also, you can use other compatible browsers in QuickBooks Online.

Also, if you're trying to deposit an over-payment, make sure to record it to the State Tax liability account from your Chart of Accounts. You may want to visit this article where you can gather a few details about recording sales tax refunds: Learn how to refund sales tax collected from customers who are exempt from paying tax.
