I have linked my bank, but can not enable for days now I keep getting an error saying something went wrong try again. What is going on.

Welcome to the Community, Maxx.

I understand the importance of your bank account associated with your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

Did you encounter any issues when trying to download your bank transactions after linking your account? We would appreciate it if you could provide us with more details on what exactly you were trying to do and what prevented you from doing so. This information will help us better understand and address the issue you are experiencing.

Furthermore, know that only the cleared bank transactions from your bank will appear in your account. In the meantime, check your bank account website for any messages, notifications, or alerts about ongoing updates.

If you're still having trouble after contacting your bank and have verified that there isn't any ongoing maintenance, try opening your QBO account in an incognito or private web browser.

Moreover, when your transactions are ready, organize them by following the guidelines in this article: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let me know if you need further assistance with your bank account connection in QBO. Kindly leave a comment below, and I'll address them promptly. Be safe!

Thanks for providing us with clarification on your concern, Maxx.

Separating your bank transactions into personal and business is only available in QuickBooks Self-Employed. You can exclude them instead in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In any case, these transactions have already been added. Check these articles to guide you in recording those funds.

At the moment, we still can't pinpoint the exact cause of why you encountered this error while importing your transactions. There are several possible reasons for this issue, such as an incorrect format, file limitations, or a cache problem. Could you please provide us with the type of your Financial Institution? It would be helpful for us to investigate this issue.

In the meantime, let's check if it's a browser issue, use an Incognito/private window or other supported browser, and perform a manual update to update your banking transactions.

Here's how:

  1.  Go to Transactions and select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select Update.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials and select Continue update. Enter these credentials within 2 minutes of being prompted.

Moreover, I'm adding this article to guide you in balancing your books correctly: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Keep us posted if you have other concerns with your bank transactions. We'll do our best to help you. Take care.

I have the solepreneur which states I can put transactions into personal or business.

My bank is linked but I can not enable the sync to see transactions to sort them.

I need this to work asap.

Allow me to join this thread and add additional information about bank connectivity and data syncing in QuickBooks, maxxmara.

QuickBooks automatically downloads data from your bank to the system once connected. The transactions imported to QuickBooks are dependent on what your financial institution provides with our network.

If you're done checking your financial institution's website and there are no alerts, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They can provide further investigation and resolve this issue on time.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Solopreneur account.
  2. Click (?) Help and select the Search tab.
  3. Press Contact Us and enter the appropriate topic of your concern to connect to the right expert.
  4. Choose a way to connect with us:
  • Have us call you - get a call back from the next available agent.
  • Chat with us - start a conversation with support personnel.

In the meantime, we can manually upload your transactions to QuickBooks so you can check and manage them. First, we need to fetch a copy of your bank statement from your financial institution.

  1. Log in to your bank's website.
  2. Review and follow your bank's instructions to download CSV files of your transactions to your computer.
  3. Modify the date period of the data that you want to download. The date range should be at least one day before the date of your oldest transaction.
  4. Download and save your file in a CSV format on your device to ensure its compatibility with QuickBooks.

To guide you with the CSV formatting, please check this link: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

Next, let's upload your file into the system.

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Solopreneur account.
  2. Go to the Transactions menu.
  3. Click the dropdown arrow beside New transaction and select Upload bank statement.
  4. Drag and drop or select files from your computer.
  5. Hit Continue and select the account to which the transactions belong. Then, press Continue.
  6. Follow the on-screen process of importing your data and click Continue.
  7. Double-check your transactions and put a checkmark on the data that you want to import.
  8. Once done, select Continue. Then, confirm the download by clicking Yes.

After you've uploaded your transactions to QuickBooks, you'll have to organize them accordingly. This way, you can track and manage them accurately. To help you with this task, kindly review this article: Categorize bank transactions in QuickBooks Solopreneur.
