I want to manually enter transactions but they automatically list them as cash

I have receipts from purchases I made for materials and supplies that I want to manually enter because I used a different Bank Account card and it didn't automatically import the transaction. However, when I manually enter the transaction it lists it as cash and I was wondering if that's okay to leave it like that or if I need to import each and every transaction from my other bank account.

Thanks.

Manually entered transactions are recorded as cash, mj406.

If these transactions are not pulled up from your bank, it's better to manually import them using a CSV file. The transactions will be added to your bank instead of the Cash account.

You can export the bank transactions from your bank and import it in your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your bank’s website.
  2. Follow your bank’s steps to download your transactions as a CSV file.

Import to QBSE:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Imports.
  3. Select Import older transactions for the account you want to add transactions to.
  4. Select Browse and find the file you downloaded from your bank.
  5. Select the file and select Open to start the import.
  6. Review the column headers and data. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks. The other column headers can be in any order.
  7. Select Continue to complete the import.

After the import, make sure to categorize the transactions correctly. Here's an article with detailed steps on how to categorize: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed. There's also a link on this article about the categories available in QBSE following the Schedule C.
