Importing .iif files

I've downloaded QB 2022 but it will not import .iif files from 3rd party which did not have a problem in the past.

Importing .iif files

I want to make sure you'll be able to import iif files in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, @Susan607. I'm here to help verify what's causing the issue and fix it so you can get back to business.

Before we start, did you receive any error messages when trying to import the file? Any additional information would help us provide the best resolution on this matter.

In the meantime, let's run the Verify and Rebuild Utility tool to check if this is a data issue on your company file. Damage data on your company file is one of the possible reasons why you aren't able to import a file. To do so, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks File menu, select Utilities, then choose Verify Data.
  2. Select OK when you see the message QuickBooks detected no problem with your data. You may continue using your company file.
  3. If Verify finds an issue with your data, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors
  4. Click Rebuild Now.

Once done, go back and import your iif file again to double-check. If you get the same result, you can check out this article for more troubleshooting steps: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

However, if you get a specific error upon importing the file, this article will provide the best troubleshooting steps based on the error received: QuickBooks Desktop export troubleshooting (Mac, IIF, & One-Click).

Please let me know how things go, @Susan607. I'll be around to provide further assistance.

You may need a report to review all your created or imported transactions in QuickBooks. This article will give you different reports you can use based on what information you need to see: Create reports in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Wishing you all the best!

Importing .iif files

I've done the verify and rebuild.  This did not solve the problem.  I've reached out to 3rd party vendor who has not had this problem reported by other QB users of 2022.  I've attached the error message that I am getting.

Importing .iif files

@Susan607

Since QBD 2019, they changed something about the IIF feature.

https:// quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/improved-iif-import-quickbooks-2019-later/L1K3ZQDX9_US_en_US?uid=l4fnrx4u

Unfortunately there are some unresolved issues and we don't see any fixes to date. You can use the trial version of a 3rd party importer tool to isolate the problem.

Importing .iif files

Not sure if you ever found the fix you need, but I import IIF files from a 3rd party all the time.

When I import, instead of clicking "import IIF file", click the link under it that says "import it for me, I'll fix it later". That uses the "old" method of importing IIF files. I've had success doing it that way.
