Importing (.QBJ) General Journal Entries

Hello,

I have QBDT for Mac 2020, and I am having trouble importing General Journal Entries. Below are the actions I have taken to try to correct this issue. If anyone knows how to accomplish the task I would appreciate an explanation. I don't know if its a 2020 version problem or a Mac version problem.

QuickBooks For Mac Not Importing General Journal Entries (.qbj)

Actions Taken to Import Data to QB Using Purchased Apps

  • Downloaded PDF files from bank accounts
  • Converted PDF to CSV with PDF2CSV application from ProperSoft (purchased app)
  • Formatted CSV file headers as needed for a QBJ Import
  • Converted CSV file to QBJ file with CSV2QBJ application from ProperSoft (purchased app), no errors encountered after conversion.
  • Imported QBJ files to QuickBooks (i.e.: File à Import à General Journal Entries) without errors but the actual import does not appear anywhere in QB.

Actions Taken to Import Data to QB Using IIF Files

  • Downloaded PDF files from bank accounts
  • Converted PDF to CSV with PDF2CSV application from ProperSoft (purchased app)
  • Downloaded Sample CSF Files from the web with the correct headers for creating an IIF Import
  • Formatted CSV file headers as needed for an IIF Import and placed my bank data into the proper rows and columns
  • Converted CSV file to a text delimited file and then changed the extension to IIF
  • Imported the IIF files to QuickBooks (i.e.: File à Import à IIF File) without errors but the actual import does not appear anywhere in QB

Actions Taken to Correct QB

  • I restarted QB on several occasions and tried the above Import methods, with no results
  • In QB, I opened dummy company and tried to Import different bank data to the dummy company with the two methods above but there were no results
  • Then, following instructions I found on the web, I cleared the Users PLIST and, three files were deleted
  • Then I tried to clear the System PLIST but I could not find one for QB after executing step 2) above
  • I restarted QB and tried to Import again but with no results
  • All of my company data is backed-up
  • Finally, I sent QB to Trash and reinstalled the program from my QB for Macs CD-Disk. I found it strange that upon restarting QB it did not ask me for the Registration Key.
  • Again I tried Importing data but there were no results.

Thanks again.

Importing (.QBJ) General Journal Entries

Hello @PPRG,

The file itself can be the reason why you're unable to find it in your company data after the import process. Instead, you can consider downloading a copy of your journal entries in a CSV or IIF file format so you can easily import it into the system. You can read through this article to learn more: IIF Overview: import kit, sample files, and headers.

Lastly, here are articles you can read for ideas to help manage your account and related tasks: Help Articles for QuickBooks Desktop for MAC.

Keep me posted in the comments if you have any other questions. I'll be here to lend a hand.
