Income from particular advertisement

Is there a way to breakdown income sources in QBO? My client wanted to categorize income separately that was generated from a particular advertisement they ran. Is this something we can do in QBO? Thank you!

Hi there, @camispear.

I have the steps you need to help you categorize income separately.

You can organize your costs, income, and other account categories into subaccounts in QuickBooks Online. Subaccounts under parent accounts can be used to further structure your chart of accounts and produce more thorough reports. If needed, you can create a new parent account, before creating a subaccount.

Here's how to Create a new subaccount:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and choose Chart of accounts.
  2. Click New, then choose New category
  3. In the Category name field, enter a name for the category (subaccount).
  4. Choose the link for Select category. You must select the parent account to which this category (subaccount) belongs to.
  5. Choose the type of account under which you want to create the subaccount. Select Income, for instance, if it's money that your company makes, or Bank & Credit Cards if it's a bank account.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Decide which account the new subaccount belongs to. Depending on what you choose in step 5, you'll have different alternatives.
  8. Hit Save to save a bank or credit card account or Select for all other account types.

You can also browse this article for more detailed reference: Create subaccounts in your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, I'm adding this link if you need further help with reconciling accounts: Reconcile an account in QBO.

Drop a reply anytime if you still have questions or concerns in categorizing income sources. I'll be around for you. Take care and stay safe.
