Inventory

We are a landscape install company and my issue is this: The Owner has many plants in her personal yard that she uses to sell to customers. She re-pots these and puts them in inventory. My question is how do I match the plants she gives to resell to a customer. We do not use the inventory module as it was never set up before I started. Should I re-do the item list to reflect this inventory? Our item list is ALL service items.

Help is here, KathyP1964.

To match the plants, you'll want to review all the existing service items. However, since we're unable to change a service item to an inventory item, you'll want to create a new item to match the plants.

Below are the instructions on how to create an item in QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to Lists,  then select Item List.
  2. On the Item List window, select Item then New.

  3. Select the type of item you want to create.
  4. Fill out the item fields.
  5. Use Custom Fields to add your own customized fields.
  6. Click Save.

For the old service items, you can inactivate them. I'll show you the steps below:

  1. Go to Lists,  then select Item List.
  2. On the Item List window, select Item.
  3. Check the box for Item is inactive.

  4. Click OK.

Thanks for the input, but that's not an option. The accountant has advised not to increase item list with inactive stuff. I'll figure it out, thanks
