Invoices View

Hi,

This is not a gripe, just a question. I recently switched from QuickBooks for Mac to QuickBooks Pro 2018 for Windows. One thing I'm missing when processing monthly invoices is the list of existing invoices in the left column when in the Create Invoices window. This made it super easy to navigate invoices with a single click. All of my monthly base invoices are generated automatically each month, then updated with any additional service and/or products sold during the month. I'm navigating among all of the recent invoices quite a bit during this process.

The only method I have found to navigate invoices in the Windows version is either using the arrows under Find in the Create Invoices window to scroll through invoices sequentially one at a time, or going to Find and typing in a search parameter. Not a huge problem but the extra clicks and keystrokes add up when processing numerous invoices.

Is there any View option for the Create Invoices window which will show the list of existing invoices somewhere in the window? I've not come up with anything poking around, but I am new to the Windows version.

Thanks!

It's great to have you here in the Community, @Bill_Stone. I'll be sharing different ways of viewing existing invoices in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

First off, I'd like to commend you for exerting effort into this and exploring how to view existing invoices in the QuickBooks Desktop Window's version. Aside from going to the Create Invoices tab and then clicking the Find button to filter the transaction type to invoice, there are other ways that you can try to view your existing invoices much easier and faster. I'll leave them down below:

You can consider pulling up Sales by Customer Detail report and then customize it to view invoices only. To begin, these are the steps:

  1. Go to Reports tab, and then click Sales.
  2. Select Sales by Customer Detail.
  3. Click Customize Report, then go to the Filters tab.
  4. Under FILTER, select Transaction Type.
  5. Under Transaction Type, select Invoice.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Manually change the dates, then click Refresh.

Another way of viewing invoices is by going to the Customer Center and navigating to Transactions to select invoices. It will show you all the invoices available in your account. You can also customize the date to show specific invoices.

To view invoices in just a few clicks, you can go to the Edit tab and then Find. Change the transaction type to invoice, and then click Find.

That's it. Those are other ways to view existing invoices easier and much faster.

Thanks for your reply KurtKyle. You'll have to forgive me for pointing out that all of the options you suggested are many more clicks than the two methods I stated that I'm already using. And your final suggestion just adds more clicks to get to the same search window that's already available with one click of the Find button in the Create Invoices window, a method I stated that I'm already using.

For those reasons I am unable to accept your reply as a solution. Thanks just the same.
