Hi , sethreynolds !
Thank you for reaching out to Community. I'd be happy to answer your questions about the Quickbooks Online(QBO) app.
Accessing your QuickBooks account simultaneously is possible. All you have to do is log in using your credentials.
Using an Intuit account is different from using your QuickBooks user ID. Your QuickBooks user ID gives you access to basic features like creating an invoice or paying a bill.
I've also added the account management link for some helpful articles.
You're always welcome to post any questions you may have about Quickbooks Online(QBO) windows application. I'll be sure to take care of them for you.
That is not remotely close the answer to my question.
I have used the QBO windows app for years. It is available to anyone who goes to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/online/apps/. I simply am wanting to know if your company (Intuit) is phasing is out in the upcoming months or years.
Thank you for the response and for providing us with more details about this concern, @sethreynolds.
We haven't received any updates about phasing out or discontinuing the windows app for QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can continue using it for your QBO account with no worries.

Let me know if you still have questions about the windows app. I'm always here to answer them for you. Have a great rest of the day!
Received notice this morning that the app will no longer be updated or supported after April 20th.
I have to say, I am very disappointed about this for the app seems to have features you cannot do online.
My internet connection is NOT 100% dependable. Will there be another option offline?
Can I have more than 1 tab open online, if this is currently an option, I haven't figured out how.
This also explains why I have to go online to do certain reports. I'm about ready to learn a different bookkeeping software after being a QB user since the late 90's.
This is complete BS!! The failure of this company to be upfront with their customers is astonishing. I have not once had a problem solved by customer service...maybe a temporary band aid and a promise but never solved. The windows app was the only good thing about this platform and now it's being pulled for "lack of use"? I'd leave feedback for Intuit about this but I've been dumped off of 3 chats already and I've got work to do. Not happy Intuit...NOT HAPPY!!
And now my post is awaiting approval?? ARG :-/
I understand your frustration about this matter and for sharing your experience with our customer service, mrsrut004.

I am very upset about this. I switched to QBO last year, it took me forever to get proficient with it and love the ability to open different tabs so I can go back and forth. The online doesn't seem to have that and a lot more!!!!! that is easily accessible. Personally QBO is lacking a lot but I was forced to adapt, now you are taking efficient features away from us?
I played around with it online and found out you can have multiple tabs opened. The trick is to sign in then open another tab with the same sign-in address. I have it saved as a favorite site. This is using Chrome.
Bad and frustrating thing is, you need to stay active in each tab or it will log you out and you have to sign in again. Also, signing out of one doesn't sign you out of all of them except it seems to automatically sign you out when you close the browser.
DebPNH, I am right there with you. A QB advisor friend of mine suggested using the app when I first switched from desktop. Stopped me from grumbling so much.
I've been lucky enough have some good support people over the phone. One explained that there are so many variations of QBO that it is harder to narrow some issues down to the version you have probably isn't one they are looking at.
I hope this helps.
Been trying to use the website for QBO for the past week and it is so unbearably slow compared to the APP. I have had to go back and hope Intuit can reconsider discontinuing it as I may have to discontinue my serve it is nearly unusable in the web browser have tried Chrome and Edge. Loading sales receipt or expensie sits for minutes before it loads and then have to restart it to get it to work. Once that is loaded then the names list takes another few minutes again if at all. This is on 3 different computers and yes I ahve cleared cache and not cleared cache. All these things work find on the QBO app.
I appreciate you for sharing the details with us, Dustan D.
I can provide some insights on how to get around this issue and access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) seamlessly on a regular browser.
To ensure your QuickBooks runs smoothly in your computer browsers, ensure the browser meets the system requirements for QBO. An outdated browser can cause latency issue.
If this is not the case, I recommend contacting our Support team. This way, they can look into your account from a secure environment and investigate the reason for the latency. You can reach out to them by following these steps:

Removing the desktop app really annoys me.
Its so much faster to navigate through the tasks I have to do with keyboard shortcuts and actual menus compared to browser only.
This gets me really close to wanting to finally ditch qbo. Really frustrating decision intuit.
Use software support browsers?
Really?
How much cool aid have you drunk over there?
The browser cannot compare in any way shape or form to the desktop app and being able to have multiple companies opened at one time.
Does anyone realize what they are ending? THIS IS NUTS!
Does anyone realize how much more time it is now going to take to do our work?
We have 15 companies, and are growing to 50.
This is going to be a NIGHTMARE on the browser.
Completely agree with you.
They just don't care it seems.
It is all just so heartbreaking that they are doing this to us.
This is very annoying. The browser version is so slow and login is timing out too quickly. I need to be able to work in it all day with multiple tabs open. And IF it does timeout, i need all my same tabs open again.
As with others, I am reviewing going back to desktop version. Too many limitations!
How can we get organized and propose Intuit to reconsider this stupid decision? There should be a way that all QBO app users get together and formally ask Intuit to put it back, as we do use it, and it’s one of the best features of QBO?
They say that are discontinuing it, because of lack of users, how do we show them we are millons?
Hello, @daaldico.
I can see how it would be beneficial to you to have the ability to use the QuickBooks Online desktop app. I'll make sure to pass along your feedback to the Product Development Team.
If you have any suggestions, feedbacks and product requests for improvement, you can directly send it to us.
Here's how:

This app has been the only thing that made online tolerable and the only reason I was able to have multiple clients in it.
I am upset, and I have clients upset, as they think the same as I do.
One set of books at a time, or in multiple browsers, is not practical for a one person office, and I cannot believe you are doing this. This is just one area that makes no sense.
Canceling this is a horrible mistake, and truly unfair to those of us using it for years, and after we introduced it to our clients.
Attachments have already stopped working, so I expect this will be unusable soon.
I am really surprised you would not make QBO as user friendly as possible if you want to get everyone moved into that type of platform.
Or, are you going to just make it available for a fee, or in an advanced edition? My small businesses cannot afford all these charges to keep their books, and we are going to start losing them.
I have been using your software since 1998, and I wish Intuit would rethink this decision.
Thank you.
Mary
The question is WHY should we have to jump through all these hoops to make something work when there is a solution out there?
REALLY disappointed! This makes no sense unless there is something we do not know in the works.
They say lack of use?
Well, I contend if this app is not being used it is because people do not know about it, because it makes QBO functionally better.
That's what the prompt when opening the app showed.
They are discontinuing it because there are not enough users using it.
I think I understand the confusion. To clear things up for those that think QB is phasing anything out: the only thing they are phasing out is Quickbooks Desktop 2018 version. This means you’ll need to upgrade to a newer version. Quickbooks Desktop 2021 would be the recommended step up. It will come with enhanced features and security due to the ongoing updates and fixes.
You can also go the Quickbooks Online route, but there are limitations to that software especially if you’re already used to the Desktop app.
To the original post: the confusion arose when you mention QBO windows. QBO stands for Quickbooks Online, which is the online serving of the software, and completely separate from the desktop software. QBD is the one you were probably referring to, which is Quickbooks Desktop (Windows).
So after NO help from these QB Support forums on the topic of opening multiple tabs in browsers for QBO, and no help from QB chat, I simply clicked on a new tab and then the bookmark for QB login and it took me to a new tab where I could choose a different company. I didn't have to even login to my accountant's version. Good luck with this. Don't know if it will work without using a bookmark.
How hard is it to answer someone's question directly??? Instead QB support in these forums simply copies and pastes links for us all to research stuff that doesn't pertain to the original question!
Since they no longer support the desktop app, the multi tab option doesn't work for me in QBO, makes me just sign in again. My work around is to open several browser tabs and log into each one so I can keep a few spots visible at same time without leaving the spot I'm working on.
I think this is what you are asking? If not I appologize.
