Buy nowI'm a Mac consultant, and I have a couple of clients who, for one reason or another, really prefer to stay with QB Desktop. I generally try to steer them in the direction of QB Online since that's the way the river is flowing, but I accomodate them if they want to stay on Desktop. (I mean, it's their computer.)
So: I had a client today who upgraded her macOS and consequently could no longer run QB Mac Desktop 2016. Having been down this road with a previous client, I knew she'd need to subscribe to use QB Mac Desktop 2023. But...how? If I hadn't Googled and read third-party postings about it, I never would have known the correct minimum price tier ($549 annually). On the Intuit website, I can barely find any way to subscribe to the Desktop product at all, and the only price shown is the $799 tier. But I knew the $549 Mac subscription does exist because I found it on a couple of reseller sites.
In the end, I called Intuit Sales, and that was literally a half hour process requiring talking to two people just to sell me something I already knew I wanted. (I had to insist many times that I did not want to review my client's workflow for a product "rightfitting," I did not want to use QB Online, and I just wanted to get QB Mac Desktop 2023, could we please do that.)
Is this really the only way? Is there some hidden link somewhere for the $549 Mac subscription that someone can point me towards? If not, is there any downside to buying from a reseller? I really spent a long time looking on the Intuit web site and could not find a way to subscribe to Desktop at $549, and I'm not sure I could subscribe to Mac Desktop at all, which historically has always been its own thing with its own licensing.
As an aside, I really do get that Intuit is all but screaming at the top of their lungs at Desktop users to start using Online instead, and that's reflected in both their pricing and their hiding of the Desktop product. I won't be surprised when they (again) stall or discontinue the Mac version, and perhaps all Desktop versions, and that will be a day of reckoning for some of my clients. Still, until that day comes, if I click "See All Products" in the footer, or on a page link, I'd like to, you know, be able to actually see all products.
Thanks for any help!
They purposely avoid new users from buying new licenses for QB Desktop 2023 Pro Plus and Mac Plus from their website. You can only purchase licenses from selected partners/resellers at this time. Prices may vary but make sure the seller has guaranteed that once you have activated your license you can access CAMPS as Primary Contact and find your license code there. Otherwise, you may be scammed by that seller.
Hi IvanExpert!
I truly appreciate how you put everything in detail. Fiat Lux - ASIA is right. We are gearing towards the online version, and you need to call to buy QB for Mac or purchase from the resellers.
As for buying from resellers, we're unable to tell the downside or disadvantages since we don't have access to their product offerings and inclusions. But most likely, it's just similar to what you can buy from us. They're only able to offer lower prices because they buy in bulk from us.
On the other hand, I'm including these articles for your customer's reference:
