Need Help with QuickBooks COM Instance Error = 80040154

Good morning, @John Jr

Thanks for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope your day is going great.

Typically when we see error 80040154, it's possible something has undone your COM registrations—for example, installing a previous version of QuickBooks.

Don't sweat it. You can resolve this matter by simply uninstalling QuickBooks and reinstalling it. I've included some steps to walk you through this process below.

Before we begin, be sure to grab your license and product number (camps.intuit.com). You'll need these numbers to reinstall.

To uninstall:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for "Control Panel," then open Control Panel.
  2. Choose Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. Select the version of QuickBooks Desktop from the list of programs you want to uninstall.
  4. Click on Uninstall/Change and then Remove. Select Next. If you don't see this option, sign out and enter Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights).

When you're done, reinstall QuickBooks

That should do it. For additional details about this process, check out Clean install QuickBooks Desktop

Please let me know how it goes. I'm here if you have any questions or concerns. Have a good one!
