Opening a Secondary company file

Every time I open a secondary company in QuickBooks, the Primary company will close immediately afterward and I have to open the Primary again (it stays the Primary). How do I prevent this from happening?

Opening a Secondary company file

Happy Friday, @jserrano71.

Welcome to Community. I'm happy to assist you with your primary company issue.

I recommend running a repair on your program. As it sounds like your program has a couple of hiccups in it. But no worries, its an easy process.

Here's how:

  1. First, let's back up your company file.
  2. Restart your computer (This will ensure all programs are shut down and can not be affected by the repair).
  3. Once the computer is back up and running, open the start menu.
  4. Search and choose Control Panel.
  5. Select Programs and Features then Uninstall a program.
  6. Click QuickBooks from the list of programs, then Uninstall/Change.
  7. Hit Continue, or Next.
  8. Choose Repair, then Next.
  9. Once it's done, click Finish.
