Page Numbers Overlapping on Multi-Page Forms in QuickBooks

Quickbooks allows print page numbers on forms with more than 2 pages; the page numbers appear on the form when printed but overlap with the text/fields. Normally, I would go into the Layout Designer to manually adjust the placement; however, the page numbers don’t show up as an editable option in the designer at all.

Could you please advise if there’s a way to move or adjust the page numbers, or if this is a limitation/bug?

Page Numbers Overlapping on Multi-Page Forms in QuickBooks

I commend your effort in trying to edit the page number on your multi-page forms, Luenf.

Currently, there isn't a way to move or adjust the page numbers on forms, and this isn't a bug. Resizing items such as the header, columns, or footer, or adding new fields, can impact the form's layout and potentially lead to overlapping.

I suggest manually adjusting the placement of the form fields to prevent overlap, rather than modifying the page number. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Templates.
  2. Choose the type of form you’d like to customize
  3. In the form, select the Formatting tab, then select Manage Templates.
  4. Click Additional Customization if you need to add or remove items from the header, columns, or footer.
  5. Select Layout Designer to move or resize items on the form so they don't overlap with the page number.
  6. Once done, click OK.
  7. Select Print Preview to see your form. If everything looks good, click Close.
  8. Hit OK.

For detailed instructions on this process, refer to the How to customize form templates section of this article: Use and customize form templates.
