Print by Payee Last Name

How do I change the settings in QuickBooks Online so that checks print by the payee's last name instead of first name?

Print by Payee Last Name

Good afternoon, @CourtneyMacDuggal.

I'm hearing that you'd like for checks to be printed with last names, first.  We can print a list that way, but we can't print paychecks that way.  If you'd like to share this feedback with our Dev team, here's how you can do that:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve QuickBooks Online.  We appreciate you taking the time to share how we can continue to make QuickBooks Online the best experience!

I'm here for any other questions you may have. Have a great rest of your Monday.

Hi Jessica - I'm not printing paychecks, I'm printing vendor checks. Does that make a difference?

Hello there, @CourtneyMacDuggal. I'm here to further help you print checks by payee's last name.

To help you with this, you can edit your vendor's profile and ensure that their last name is entered in the Print on check as field. This way, checks will be printed by your payee's last name. Let me show you how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Then, select the Expenses menu and choose Vendors.
  3. Double click the vendor's name to open their profile.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Uncheck the Print on check as box.
  6. Then, enter your payee's last name in the Print on check as field.
  7. Once done, click Save. vendorcheck.PNG

When finished, create and print your vendor checks again.

Also, in QBO, you can easily set up your print settings to ensure that your checks are aligned and will be printed out correctly.

If you have any other concerns about printing vendor's checks by payee's name, feel free to post again here. I'm always around to assist you further. Have a good one.
