Prompting for Classes in QuickBooks Desktop 2019

I have the flag turned on to prompt for classes in Edit>Preference>Accounting.  However, I am never prompted for classes when I post any type of transaction.    Am I missing something on how to make this happen?

Hi there, @KeithOakley.

After saving your transaction, you'll be prompted for a reminder when you haven't assigned a class.

Otherwise, there may be data damage if you still aren't prompted with the class reminder after turning on the feature. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

You'll need to run the Verify/Rebuild tool to detect the data damage. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities, and choose Verify Data.
  3. If QuickBooks detected an issue, select Rebuild Now. Some users recommended that rebuilding data thrice fixes data damage.
  4. Click OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed."

I’m only a post away if you need further assistance. Take care.

I've done it 3 times.  I was getting the following errors:

Error 3 on both Tables and List

Error 310 (3) on Tables

Error 195 on Lists.

I followed some links that had me verify/rebuild data.  Change password (Done!), logout and login.  It had me look at the QBWin.log. Found the IsQBInUseLockFilePresentAndLocked: and my company file.lck can't be found. Error = 2 which the site advised that this should not be considered a sign of damage.

However, the function now works.  I don't know why I am getting all these errors but everything seems to be working just fine.

Thanks for the help.

Good afternoon, @KeithOakley

I'm glad to hear that the steps provided by my colleague @LieraMarie_A worked for you. I suggest if you have any further issues with that, you can run the File Doctor from tool hub.

I'm always here to help if you have any more questions or concerns. Take care!
