Is QB 2020 for desktop now compatible with mac Big Sur? Hopefully, there's a simple answer, so that I can update to Big Sur with confidence that QB will fully function. Thanks!
Hi there, @jimcoh8.
QuickBooks is coping up with the non-stop updates of the new Mac's OS, Big Sur. No worries, our product engineers and developers are working hard to provide system updates for the features and bugs.
To know more about the specific fixes and program updates, you can check out this article: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020.
I've added this article for your year-end tasks: QuickBooks Desktop Year End Prep and Resources.
I'll be here if you have other questions or concerns in regards to QuickBooks. May the new year be only about prosperity and profit!
Thanks for your response. I have the latest version of QB 2020 V19.0.5 R6 installed. So to be completely clear, are you affirming that with this update QB is compatible with Big Sur?
I'm here to clear things out for you, @jimcoh8.
Yes, once the update for the new Big Sur system is released, the version of QuickBooks that you have will be compatible and will work smoothly.
We encourage you to update your QuickBooks regularly, so once any updates are released will sync into the program.
Here's how you can update it:

Thanks, what "update for the new Big Sur system" are you referring to?
Thanks for getting back to us, @jimcoh8.
My colleague is referring to the QuickBooks update to support the Big Sur operating system. While our product engineers are still working on this, I suggest updating your QuickBooks for Mac from time to time. This way, the update will sync into your QuickBooks software once it's released.
For now, you can visit our blog site so you'll be able to get the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on.

Mark, thanks for getting back to me. With all due respect and candor, this string of information from QB is vague and often misleading. My initial question was is QB 2020 desktop compatible with mac Big Sur? It seems that that answer is "no" - am I correct? The fact that you've released version R6 which does not seem to be a true fix, if I read what you're saying correctly, and that you're "working on it" is interesting and surprising given that the Big Sur release has been in the works for months.
What is your estimated completion date for an update to QB 2020 desktop that is entirely compatible with Bog Sur? I appreciate your prompt and clear responses to these questions.
Good morning, @jimcoh8.
Thanks for reaching back out to the Community. Allow me to give you some additional clarification about Big Sur being compatible with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account.
At this time, QuickBooks 2020 Desktop isn't compatible with Big Sur. Although we don't have an exact date of when this will be fixed, our Product Engineers are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Once we receive further insight on this matter, we'll update the Community. We're always here to have your back.
As my colleague stated above, you can check out our QuickBooks Blog to see what's new in the system.
I want to make sure all of your concerns are addressed. I value you and the success of your business. I'm only a post away if you need me. Have a great day!
Thanks for your response. I noticed that my QB software automatically updated to release R7 - does this now make QB 2020 for mac computable with Big Sur, or is this issue still not resolved?
Thanks
It's good to have you back here, jimcoh8.
