QB Desktop Freezes during Credit Card Processing

Currently, I think the issue has been fixed. There have been no problems since my last changes. I made sure that Microsoft edge was as current as possible. Went through any windows settings that dealt with firewalls or browser communications. Also, I changed the settings in edge to "Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode". I don't know if this helped solve the problem but now things are working properly.

We've taken the same steps, I do think that integration of Internet Exploder is the primary fail point still. Hopefully just the error occurring when Merchant Services completes its payment process is repaired by giving IE a chance to take over is enough. I have not had any issues today (fingers crossed).

It did it again today. We are going to discontinue Quickbooks Payments, the combination of not running CU cards and freezing is just ridiculous.

We may recommend a 3rd party connector to isolate your issue. You can still use QB Payment and offer other payment options on your invoice (e.g PayPal, Stripe). If the same problem persists, you can cancel your QB Payments account and continue using the more than 20 alternative payment processors they support today.

My QB Desktop Pro Plus 2022 is freezing when I try to process credit cards. I have tried all the fixes listed in this topic as well as re-installing QB.  After 4 hours on the phone with QB they said they need to call me back but I have not heard back from them.  Is anyone having the same issue? Found a solution?

Currently on Desktop 2020. The software gets updated about every two years, 2016, 2018, 2020. Been wondering if 2022 would be better but I see that others with 2022 are having the same issue.

I currently use the newest version QB 2022.  After 6+ hours on the phone with QB help, I finally hired someone outside QB to solve the issue.  It was a display issue and the credit card info was showing up off screen.  The help desk never looked at display.  I will be looking into other credit card processing companies with better support.

We have already switched away from Quickbooks. The payment services are not made for actual businesses, just for playtime. I appreciate your comment.

I see no reason to upgrade to any future versions as long as posters are stating that this problem still exist in those future versions too. I am curious as to the online quickbooks, does it too suffer from this same issue? What is different about that version that will prevent the problems from occurring there?

Allow me to provide information on the difference between QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) and QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

Before anything else, please know that all the troubleshooting steps shared by my colleagues above apply to all versions of QBDT. Thus, the issue may persist even you upgrade to a newer version.

 

On the other hand, QBO is a cloud-based accounting product and significantly easier to learn and use than QBDT. Also, since the software is cloud-based, you can work and manage your business anywhere you go if you have an internet connection.

 

In addition, QBO depends on the performance of your browser and internet connection. The software may freeze or get unusual behavior if your connection is unstable or your browser has data issues.

I know this thread was last posted to a month ago - but we have consistently had exactly the same issue over older versions of quickbooks desktop too. I doubt anyone that processes multiple credit cards each day does not encounter lockups.

I came on here today to see if there have been any recent solutions.

The problem is external processors do not seamlessly integrate with QBD we have tried a few and always came back, even if the QB payment network is more expensive.

I am going to try all the processing on the server instead of remote PC's and see if this makes a difference.

If anyone is using an external processor and they find it pretty seamless, please post suggestions and I will look at them.
