It's great to see you here, @Jacknlacosta,
I want to make sure this issue is addressed and you're able to backup your company file successfully. Before that, I need to verify if you are using MacOS Big Sur. We currently have an ongoing issue with this operating system where customers get an error "BACKUP FAILED. Quickbooks was unable to back up your company file. QuickBooks could not copy the company file."
The suggested workaround for this is making sure you're on the latest macOS version 11.4. Then you'll need to delete to the PLIST* files from the User and System folder. This way, all preferences will revert back to its default settings and you can create the back up without any issues.
The steps are as follows:
Deleting User PLIST
Note: XX is the QuickBooks version you’re using.
Deleting System PLIST
Note: XX is the QuickBooks version you’re using.
I also recommend contacting our QuickBooks Mac Support to add your account to the list of affected users if the workarounf doesn't work. Our representatives will add your email to our notification loop to receive updates about the issue.

Let me know how it goes. I want to keep track of this backup topic and make sure it gets taken care of. I'm also here if you ever need further help with any other things in QuickBooks. Have a good one!

Thanks for reaching out. The engineering team has been trying to replicate this issue so we can fix it. So far we haven't been able to do so. Can you tell me what macOS version, what QB Mac year/version, and what style Mac you have (Intel or M1)?
I am not the original poster, but I started having the same issue today and just updated Big Sur to v 11.4, and that fixed the problem. Now I can back up again. I did not have to delete any PLIST files.
We've been hearing others saying similar. Try updating to the latest version of the macOS you are on.
