qb Online losing data

Hi,

Having a problem with QB online losing the data in my purchase description and purchase price in my item details. Only happens with about a third of the items and only those 2 details. I save the info and qb erases those 2 fields and will not let me populate them again. Same thing happens on different computers and across different browsers. Stayed on the phone with intuit for almost 2 hours yesterday and they couldn't figure it out. Any suggestions?

I can see the importance of not losing data on an item's price and description, @darkangel.

Since you've already done a thorough troubleshooting, including spending significant time with our phone support, here are a few suggestions we can explore together:

First, try accessing your account through a private browsing window. This will help us determine if the issue is related to cache problems.

You can press these keyboard shortcut keys to access this mode:

  • Ctrl+Shift+N for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl+Shift+P for Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge
  • Command+Shift+N for Safari

If this works, return to your default browser and clear its cache. If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Team again for further investigation and resolution.

Additionally, you can generate sales reports within the program to get insights into your purchases, sales, and inventory status.

If you have any more questions about QuickBooks and the missing information in your item details, feel free to ask. I'm here to help.

We tried all of this while I was on the phone with customer service for 2 hours the other day. They were stumped and my problems persist. QB is useless to us in this state if it can't keep up with purchase price on the items we buy.

I brought a laptop from home with a different operating system and it still displayed the same behavior. The problem is obviously in QB Online's database. If we switch to desktop, will this alleviate the problem? I'm at the end of my rope here. QB is useless to us in it's present state.

I want you to have a better experience managing your item details, darkangel. Let's get you in touch with the right channel to help resolve the data loss in your purchase description and price.

Transitioning to the desktop version is not a guaranteed fix to solve your data loss. Thus, we recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team again to have your issue checked further. Our support team has tools to find out why the program erases the fields mentioned above. They'll guide you on how to implement the permanent solution once it's available.

Here's how to contact us:

  1. Navigate to the Help icon in the upper right of your company to display the support window.
  2. Go to the Search tab, enter a brief description of your concern, and click the Contact Us button to view the support options.
  3. Select Chat to initiate a conversation and Callback to speak with an agent.
