QB Online

Hi All,

If we moved QuickBooks Desktop to Online and made a few transactions using the online account. After that, I want to delete this company file from the online version. Additionally, I want to re-migrate the same company file from my QB Desktop to the same QB Online. Can it be done?

Do you consider converting your data from QB Desktop US to QB Online US version?

You can only convert your data once. When you need to convert the second time within 60 days, it will overwrite any data in your QBO account.

Thank you for posting your concern here in the Community, @Anonymous. I'll share some details on how we can sort this thing out.

If your company data file is less than 60 days, you'll have the option to purge your account if you're using QuickBooks Online Plus, Essentials, and Advance. That way, the system will delete all the data entered into the company, and you're unable to restore or reverse them. Here's how to purge the data, follow the steps listed below:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Change the URL to include /purgecompany.
  3. You can refer to this Example: if the URL shows https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage, you're going to change it to: https://...qbo.intuit.com/app/purgecompany.
  4. In the next window, you can see a summary of the items to be deleted.
  5. Enter the word “YES” once the data gets deleted, then click OK.
  6. Select the Wipe Data option once your selections are complete.
  7. Then once the deletion is complete, you will be rerouted to your home page.

You can refer to this article for more details: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

However, if the company file is already 60 days or older, you'll need to manually delete all those transactions or cancel your account and start a new subscription.
