QB tells me EVERYDAY it has encountered an error calculating taxes. What is wrong with this?

Why does QB encounter problems calculating sales tax when the customers are set up with sales tax rates.  It will mark some items a taxable and others NOT taxable on the same invoice. After I enter everything it will not save.

QB tells me EVERYDAY it has encountered an error calculating taxes. What is wrong with this?

I understand how difficult this has been, cindy. I'm here to provide some details about this matter.

Upon checking my resources, we have an in-progress investigation about the inability to save Invoices due to the error "We're sorry, QuickBooks encountered an error while calculating tax." With that, I recommend contacting our support team. This way, they can securely get your account information and list you as one of the affected users. You will be accurately notified about the course of this investigation.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon and select the Contact Us button.
  2. From the What can we help you with? field enter a description of your situation.
  3. Select how you want to connect with us:
  • Have us call you - Get a call from a support expert.
  • Chat with us - Start a conversation with a support expert.

To ensure you'll reach our support team, check out their support hours to determine availability.

In the meantime, we use the custom rate feature instead of location-based taxes.

Additionally, check out these articles to learn more about managing your invoices in QBO:

Rest assured our Product engineers are actively working to resolve this issue. If you have any sales tax-related concerns, comment below. I'll be here to assist.
Keep safe!
