QB Window resize taking a long time

Since our recent upgrade to QB Premier Plus 2020, there has been an issue where resizing the QB program's window takes about 15 seconds.  It pops up 2 messages that it is building a report.  Every other window resizes instantly but QB is taking a long time.  I resize almost every time I need to do anything so this 15 seconds adds up very quickly.  Is this a known bug with a fix date?

Hi GalinMcMahon. With this type of issue, you may want to reach out to an IT professional to look into your computer hardware. A lot of times this can occur whenever your hard drives read speed cannot keep up with the resources required to run QuickBooks.

 

If you're familiar with computers yourself, check out the system requirements for QuickBooks Desktop and ensure your system meets them.

 

If your system happens to meet these requirements, you will want to run a clean install of QuickBooks Desktop. Follow the article I linked to perform this and if the problem is with the program itself this will fix those issues. Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Thanks.  Unfortunately it is a fresh install with a SSD drive.  It wasn't doing this the day before when we were on 2018 version.

It could be that there's an issue with your computer system. The Operating System manages the resources between all the programs that are running on it. There’s a huge number of things that may be reducing your computer’s performance, but they usually boil down to your PC’s resources being used inefficiently.

 

Here are some of the things that slow down your computer:

 

  • Running out of RAM (Random Access Memory)
  • Running out of disk drive space (HDD or SSD)
  • Old or fragmented hard drive
  • Too many background programs
  • Too many startup programs
