I can help you sort this out, @lwingo.

Let's try modifying your QuickBooks DPI settings to make sure that using a high-resolution display is not optimized.

Here's how:

  1. Make a right-click on the QuickBooks desktop icon.
  2. Go to Properties.
  3. From the Compatibility tab, select Change high DPI settings.
  4. Select Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
  5. Choose Apply.
  6. Click OK.

Once completed, you can open QuickBooks and see if the same problem still exists. You can read through this article for more information about the troubleshooting steps: QuickBooks Desktop display issues.

I'm just a post away if you have other questions about navigating around QuickBooks. Take care and have a good one!

QB Window won't expand

I am having a similar  problem with QBooks 2021 - but I hear a "blocking" noise from my computer like something is blocking me from maximizing the Qbooks window.  I can't access anything on Qbooks but don't know what's wrong.  I already tried the steps you mentioned. When I open Qbooks I am prompted to enter my password, but can get the screen to open to full screen.

QB Window won't expand

Hi there, @tctbsky.

Before anything else, we'd like to thank you for performing the steps provided by the previous representative. We recognize the urgency of this matter and want to ensure you can get through your current situation and access QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) in full screen. Since the issue persists, we recommend utilizing the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix hidden problems within your installed application. We'll input the steps to get you going:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. We recommend you download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. A reminder, if you've already installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have.
  4. Select the Home tab.
  5. Select About/What's New to view the version.
  6. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  7. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  8. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Feel free to visit this article for more information: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

You can also contact our Customer Care Team if the problem persists after performing the steps we've provided. This way, a representative will access your account in a secure environment to conduct further investigation to determine the root cause of the problem. See this page for more details: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

We've also got this set of handy articles to help you secure a backup copy of your company file, ensure your data stays accurate inside the program, and other available solutions in case you can't access your data inside QBDT:

We're determined to help you get through this, @tctbsky. Please don't hesitate to comment below or visit us anytime if you need further assistance with this or have questions about the program. We've got your back, and we'll make sure to respond as soon as possible. Take care, and have a good one!
