QB2020 end of support?

Hi All,

Two of my customers have gotten notices that stated that support is ending for Quickbooks Desktop 2020.

Does this mean that

1) they can no longer call tech support?

2) no longer get payroll updates?

3) no new service packs?

But the program will continue to work otherwise?  Or will the program brick on them?

Many thanks,

-T

QB2020 end of support?

Hi, Todd. Thanks for getting back to the thread and for your additional question. I'll help you clear things out about your QBDT license purchases.

Yes, Todd. They will continue to function and have access to your company's files. However, online services like banking, emailing, and creating invoices will no longer be available.

You might want to learn how to update your QuickBooks license and product info. Please refer to the following article: Change a QuickBooks Desktop license number or product code.

Please don't hesitate to drop by again if you have additional questions about your QuickBooks Desktop product. We'd be more than happy to assist you further. Take care, and have a good one!

QB2020 end of support?

I appreciate you reaching out to the Community, Todd. Let me share information about the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) service discontinuation.

With QBDT 2020 subscriptions, these desktop services will discontinue after May 31, 2023. It includes all versions of desktop 2020 and its add-on services.

Also, you won't be able to subscribe to live technical support or any other Intuit services that are integrated with QBDT. That said, discontinued versions will no longer receive the latest security patches and updates after the said date.

You can visit this article for more detailed information: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.

Moreover, I've added these references to guide you in managing your desktop subscription and help you streamline your daily accounting tasks:

They were not subscriptions.  They were license purchases.   Will they still work, except for tech support and payroll?

To whom it may concern:

We and our businesses have been loyal customers and users of Intuit products for many years Whether it be desktop versions or on-line versions we have counted on and trusted Intuit as one of our vendors. Unfortunately, this trusted relationship has soured with the deceptive and malicious disabling of our QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020 software at the end of May this year.

The reason I describe this disabling as deceptive and malicious is due to the fact that the purchased product container does not state nor imply that key features that we use were going to be rendered useless by Intuit's software updates. The information available at ww.intuit.com/policy makes no mention of the fact that a user can no longer import their own banking transactions from self downloaded QBO or banking iif files.

This intentional manipulation making the software useless for any use in the future is disheartening and very frustrating for our small businesses and my personal use.

In my calls with Intuit personnel to assess an "upgrade", I was misled about the capabilities of the on-line version after paying for a one month trial. The Enterprise version alternative cost is totally unreasonable for what our businesses need from the software. Finally, the reasons that were provided by your personnel for disabling my current desktop version simply are not true or have already been countered by data and network solutions enacted on my end.

Intuit's attempt to force us to "upgrade" has resulted in our businesses to seek other practical applications for our basic accounting needs. In addition we have started the process of closing all of our Intuit accounts and we will no longer be purchasing Intuit products for business or personal use in the future.

You may not care about us as a customer; however, I no longer consider your company as ethical nor trustworthy.
