QBO Dashboard - Get things done - Views

There are two "Get things done" views to the Dashboard.  One has the Money In - Money out Outline view and the other simply has "Shortcut" icons..

I didn't know the "Shortcut" view existed until it magically appeared about 6 weeks ago.  This morning, the login screen changed and QBO is back to the "Outline" view.

I don't like the "Outline" view because every time you click Receive payments, you must cancel the "Setup Quickbooks Payments" advertisement. The "Shortcuts" view doesn't prompt this annoying advertisement.

An example of both views are shown at about 1:25 into this video:

How do I toggle back to the "Shortcuts" view?

QBO Dashboard - Get things done - Views

Hello there, twtwfs.

Welcome to the Community. Allow me to share some information about Dashboard in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The Dashboard page appears by default when you open a company file to provide a business overview. Customizing a dashboard is unavailable in QBO. However, you can manage and edit your user role permissions. Which you have the ability to customize it to your liking. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks with a user profile that has permission to manage users.
  2. Choose Settings ⚙.
  3. Select Manage users.
  4. Find the user you want to edit. Then click Edit in the Action column.
  5. In the User type drop-down ▼ menu, select the new user type.
  6. Hit the user settings, if applicable.
  7. Tap Save.
  8. Ask the user to sign out and back into QuickBooks Online to see the updates.

Also, you can always visit our manage your account page for reference, to learn some tips and tricks on managing your account.

Leave a comment below if you have other questions or concerns. I'd be glad to answer them for you. Enjoy the rest of your day!

QBO Dashboard - Get things done - Views

I do not see anywhere in managing users where you can select "Shortcuts" or "Outline" for the "Get things done" tab of the Dashboard.

However; today my "Get things done" view has magically switched back to the "Shortcuts" icons that I like.

I don't have any clue as to why one day it shows "Outline" and then magically changes to "Shortcuts"

(wish I had taken a screen shot of the "Outline" view and posted yesterday)

Same Problem.. I have two quickbooks companies and I set them up exactly the same but one has the horrible money-in money-out swim lanes. I want the regular shortcuts view back.

QBO Dashboard - Get things done - Views

I recognize you prefer to use the old shortcut view in QuickBooks Online (QBO), GomerPyle.

QuickBooks are continuously improving the product's features to meet our customer's needs. However, the option to switch back to the old view tab is unavailable.  I encourage you to add your vote for this one by sending a feature request in the Feedback section within QuickBooks This enables our product developers to consider bringing back the old view.

Here's how to submit feedback:

  1. Go to the Gear menu and then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your feature request in the description box.
  3. Once done, click on Next.

You can also review our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website for any request updates.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve any issues you may have. Please let us know if you have other concerns about the display preferences in QuickBooks. Stay safe!

QBO Dashboard - Get things done - Views

The screenshots are from my two different QBO Advanced companies. The one with the view that I like is literally a copy/restore of the one I do not like. Maybe the image I got provisioned is older version for my newer company file? Who knows? The help desk lady I talked to last night was perplexed by this.
