Yes, TEXTQ. You can safely delete the file from your local file.

To delete the large file, here are the steps below:

  1. Go to your local file.
  2. Locate and open the QBsearchIndexerError.txt file.
  3. Choose the file you wish to remove.
  4. You can either erase it all at once or you can delete it using the delete key on your keyboard.

As for the reason for this behavior from QuickBooks, it's possible there is an underlying issue with the software itself or how it's being utilized. Conducting regular maintenance and updates to your QuickBooks software may help in averting such issues in the future.

Once you have removed the local file, if you need to address any data corruption in your QBDT file, please consult the following guide: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

If you have any further questions or issues regarding your QBDT company file, please let me know in the comments. I'm here to provide assistance.

@TEXQ

It is a temporary file. You can delete it safely. You can also open your company file and secure a backup file (*.QBB) beforehand.

Thank you for replying -- but the answer to your question is literally in the subject line and the body of my message.

I have to ask, did you read my original posts?

I also asked several questions which I did not receive an answer for.

I know the possible reason why the file has grown so large and why QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) does this, TEXQ. I'll elaborate on this in detail.

QBDT generates a large file due to issues with indexing, errors, or corrupted company files. It accumulates large files from multiple company files, attachments, transaction history, and backups.

Regularly cleaning up old data, condensing files, and optimizing settings can help manage file size efficiently. To help you condense data while keeping transactions, I'll guide you through the process:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
  2. Click on the File menu and select Utilities.
  3. Choose Condense Data.
  4. Click on Keep all transactions, but remove audit trail info to date.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Allow the process to complete, and then click on Close.
