Quick Books Online vs Desktop for Mac

I am thinking of switching from Quickbooks Desktop for Mac to Quickbooks Online but I wanted to make sure I could still do the same reports and entries.  I always need to do a custom summary report, general ledger report and a profit and loss report.  Are they all on the quickbooks online?

I would NOT switch to Online, if I were you.  You will regret it.

It is NOT even a little bit user friendly, and it is ALWAYS broken or being changed and made worse.

The cost, for what you get is ridiculous!!

Search the community for opinions and advice.  Ask around if you need.  But do your research FULLY, before switching.  It is the WORST program with a LOT of bugs and issues that they won't fix.

@kace500  Seconding @Just_me here.

While I'm sure QBO has some analogue to the things you asked about, the program is rather a dumpster fire; there are several recent Questions dealing with exactly what kind of dumpster fire.

Add to that that it's not easy to go back, and, well. Be kind to yourself.

Quick Books Online vs Desktop for Mac

Hi there, Kace. I'll answer your queries about the reports you want to run after switching to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I appreciate you choosing QuickBooks to help you manage and track your business finances. In QBO, you can generate Custom Summary, General Ledger, and Profit and Loss reports.

To learn about the specific reports available in each version of QBO, you can refer to this article: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

Once you've transitioned to QBO, please refer to this article, which includes video tutorials for navigating and performing QuickBooks tasks: Get Started in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, here are some articles you can read when running reports in the future:

You can mention my name in the Community thread if you have further questions about reports or need assistance with QuickBooks-related inquiries. I'm available to respond promptly.

I can't speak to the desktop version, but I've read remarks from those who've made the move and regretted it. QBO is an amazingly powerful tool if they would just leave it alone. The problem is it's basically in permanent beta testing mode - not ready for roll out. Every time I log in to do invoicing I run into a mess of changes and I end up wasting all kinds of time trying to figure out how to do some little task that was super simple and I had done a million times before only to find out they've changed something just for the sake of flippidy doo dah. If they would leave it alone I could fly through invoicing like racing down the autobahn but instead it's like cutting a new trail through thorny briars every time - slow and painful.

@kace500

If generating reports is your primaryconcern, stick with QB Desktop. Are there any other concerns that are making you consider switching to QBO?
