Join nowRecently all of the computers connected to the server have all started to lag horribly when navigating thru the menus. Any ideas on how to fix that. I have applied the last recent quick-books patch.
Couple additional things:
The company file is around 480MB in size
We have almost 14000 worth of total items.
Would this contribute to the slow downs? Would upgrading to Enterprise fix this? Would QB credit us towards and upgrade?
Thank you for reaching out to the Quickbooks Community, roadwarriormfleet. You are correct in saying that the company files size and your total items are contributing to this sluggish behavior. When the company file size gets close to 250 MB, it will slow down the program. Quickbooks Premier is limited to a total of 14,500 list names, which includes the Accounts, Items, Vendors, and so on, and you are pretty close to this. You can view this article to see the maximum number of list entries for Quickbooks Pro/Premier.
There are two approaches you can take for this, you could condense your company file, but there are limitations as well when doing this. Another would be, as you mentioned, to upgrade to Enterprise. I have added this article, which displays side by side comparison of the maximum number of entries, both Pro/Premier and Enterprise. In the chart, you would see that Enterprise can go up to 100,000 entries for certain accounts. From here, you can make your decision if you would like to proceed to upgrade. To learn more about Enterprise and its feature, this link is an excellent resource of information.

3 options:
1. Upgrade to QBD Enterprise
2. Run the Condense Data utility
3. Split the file with Condense Data utility
