I have QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2023. I upgraded from QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2016. The new version has been slow to load ever since the upgrade. Sometimes it takes 15 seconds or so, other times it takes much longer. By monitoring my internet connection using TCPView from Sysinternals, I have found that the slowness is due to the program waiting for a connection to some remote QB server.
I reckon there's nothing I can do to speed up QB's servers, but is there a way to run the program in offline mode to avoid the startup delay?
Hi there, Scott. Yes, you can access QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) without an internet connection. QBDT is primarily designed to be used offline, allowing you to manage your financial data locally on your computer.
While an internet connection is not required for the core functionality of QBDT, it's important to note that certain features, such as online banking, cloud-based services, and automatic updates, will be unavailable without an internet connection.
To use QBDT without an internet connection, you can follow these steps:

Unplugging my ethernet cable each time I want to load QB isn't really a viable solution. I have QB installed on computer A and am doing client work on computer B, so I often access QB via remote desktop. What I need is an "offline mode".
I did try unplugging my Ethernet cable, and QB was much quicker to load.
Unplugging from the ethernet/internet is not an option. my computer is up to date any other options? It's a horribly long lag time.

If your QuickBooks Desktop is running slow, it might be due to automatic pop-ups. You can turn off this feature by going to Setup Company and Personal Preferences. But before doing so, make sure to create a backup company file.
However, if you're still experiencing the same behavior, QuickBooks might have decreased its performance if you're company file is too large. To help you get through this issue, you can run the Condense Data utility to reduce the size of your data file and help you keep running.
Additionally, it's important to ensure that your computer meets the System requirements. for QuickBooks Desktop.
If you're using a different version of QuickBooks Desktop, you can check the specific version's system requirements by visiting community.intuit.com and search for System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop (year).
In case the program crashes, you can follow the additional steps outlined in this article: Fix issues when QuickBooks Desktop stopped working.

Ever since Quickbooks started making changes it is very, very, very slow.
it take time to get to a connection. And....then that stupid thing goes around
in circles until it connects. Someone made a big error doing things that do not benefit anyone.
