QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant Restrictions

I have two clients that have sent me accountant copies of their QuickBooks Enterprise files.  I've entered my changes and uploaded the changes to each of my clients.  Each client has uploaded these changes.  After the changes were uploaded, the accountant restrictions were not automatically removed as they should have.  I attempted to manually remove the restrictions by going to File --> Send Company File --> Accountant's Copy --> Client Activities --> Remove Restrictions but all options in the Client Activities section (including Remove Restrictions) are grayed out and cannot be selected.  I chatted with an Intuit support representative a few weeks ago and was told the restrictions should automatically be removed and my client would have to rebuild the data in the file in order to remove the restrictions.  I restored the clients' files in QuickBooks Enterprise 20.0 and have only had this issue with the Enterprise program.  How can I remove the accountant restrictions?  Surely there is another option that have to rebuild the data each time the client sends me an accountant's copy.

QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant Restrictions

Hi @amy10,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I'm here to help you remove the accountant restrictions in QuickBooks.

I would also look for a long-term fix if I need to rebuild the data each time a client sends a copy. I suggest performing additional troubleshooting steps to isolate and fix the issue.

You can use the repair tool for QuickBooks to help fix common errors and issues. Before you start, please make sure to secure a backup copy of your company file.

In case you ran into problems, you can use your backup to restore your data. Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Click the File menu again and hover over Back up Company.
  3. Select Create Local Backup
  4. In the pop-up window, select Local Backup, then hit Next.
  5. In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and choose your save location.
  6. When you're ready, select OK.
  7. Select Save it now and Next.

After securing a backup copy, you can proceed with repairing your QuickBooks. Please visit this page for the detailed instructions: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
