QuickBooks Enterprise security

My company is a US Department of Defense prime contractor. Due to the nature of our DoD contracts, ALL systems are required to have FIPS 140-2 enabled and working. However, when we enable the FIPS 140-2 policy in GPO on our Windows 11 workstations QuickBooks Enterprise will not load. This is a significant issue for us we are subject to 3rd party audits to verify compliance under the DoD Risk Management Framework for DoD Systems (DODI 8510.01), and the pending DOD CMMC framework.

Any information that can be provided by Intuit would be appreciated.

QuickBooks Enterprise security

Thank you for contacting us regarding your concern with using QuickBooks Desktop under FIPS policies, Scott. I appreciate your need to adhere to specific government security standards.

At this time, QuickBooks Desktop may not open if FIPS is fully enabled on your system. However, it is possible to configure QuickBooks Desktop to be FIPS compliant by enabling encrypted data storage according to Intuit's guidance. Doing so would require IT expertise to properly set up.

Given the technical knowledge needed to get QuickBooks Desktop working in a FIPS environment, I recommend you reach out to our QuickBooks Technical Support team. They can provide specific assistance with adjusting the settings to support FIPS compliance.

Here's how to reach out to them:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Contact Us.
  2. Click Contact Us at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  3. Type in a short description of your concern and click Continue.
  4. Log in to your account and select Callback.
