QuickBooks Is Constantly Crashing

I'm running QB Desktop 2020.  The program opens fine, but does two things: 1) will not let me access certain features such as opening a check register; and 2) crashes when certain icons are selected.

I've run all of the repair tools, etc., restored from backup, restored from portable, re-installed program...nothing is working.

Help!

This is because when errors occur such as what you're describing, you want a 1-on-1 individualized care specialist who can dive into your account with you and help diagnose what's going on in your account. To reach them, follow these steps. 

 

Note: Update your QuickBooks Desktop to see all your support options in the Help window. These include Call Me Back and Messaging, which get you help without the long wait time.

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk.
  5. We’ll provide you a few support options. Availability may be limited. Select which one is best for you.

Yes, many people are suddenly seeing things like this. It does not appear to have anything to do with your company file. When a user sees this it happens in all their files. It seems to be related either to a QuickBooks change or a Windows change; It appears to be happening in multiple QuickBooks versions - all at once.


On several other threads, customers are posting that running QuickBooks with administrator privileges makes it work again.


To do this, right click the QB icon on your desktop (or start menu) and pick Run as administrator.

Thanks for the message.

Just upgraded to 2021 and having same issue.

QB support promised an email follow up, but haven't seen or heard anything from them.

Currently, we have an open investigation about being unable to open account registers and unrecoverable error when opening reports. Rest assured, we're doing our best to get this rectified as soon as possible.

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Help menu, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter "INV-49965, [your case number]" in the text box, then select Continue.
  5. Choose Start messaging.

I encourage checking our support hours first to ensure that we address your concerns on time.

 

In the meantime, we recommend running QuickBooks as Administrator (right-click the QuickBooks icon, then select Run as Administrator) so that you'll be able to get back to work.

No, not a beta tester.   I subscribe using QB ProAdvisor.  Got an email in the last day or so that 2021 was available to install.

THEY KNOW ALL ABOUT IT. THEY ALSO KNOW THEY CANNOT FIX IT, JUST KEEP ROLLING OUT MORE VERSIONS. GUESS WHAT ELSE? YOU IMPORT FEATURE? WONT WORK EITHER. GUESS WHAT ELSE? THEY KNOW THIS AND DO NOT CARE. 

 

I CALLED SUPPORT, WHICH IS A JOKE BECAUSE ALL THEY DO IS READ THROUGH SOLUTIONS ALREADY POSTED ON THE FORUMS. THEY CANT FIX IT.

 

BEST PART OF ALL IS IF YOU WANT TO JUST ROLL BACK TO PREVIOUS VERSION, YOU CANNOT. FILE WONT WORK ANYMORE. I HAVE LOSTS TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY JUST DONT CARE. FIND A BETTER SOFTWARE SOLUTION, THIS ONE IS GARBAGE.

sounds about right. they will just ignore you. they dont care about you. go to xero or netsuite.

Yes this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Constant crashes, garbage updates, bloated trash slowing performance while actual user complaints and reported bugs are quite literally ignored and never fixed, the most lackluster support known to man - yes yes yes this all of this. Intuit has outdone itself in providing absolute garbage software, performance and support in this 2021 Premier version we just "upgraded" to as well. Upgrade is a laughable term

We installed QB2022 in May, 2022 on two computers in our office. Both of them have Windows 2010 OS, but both are entirely different machines. Both of the pc's have experienced the unexpected QB closing that happens at mostly random times. Quite unexpectedly, we have found that if Outlook is opened  before QB, we get the unexpected disappearing / crashing problem. If we open Outlook after QB, we do not have the unexpected disappearing / crashing. Don't ask me to explain it, I can't. I just know that is how we solved the issue for our office.

QuickBooks Is Constantly Crashing

I just had this issue just now on QB2020 when trying to access Vendor Menu, though 2 days ago everything had been fine until now.  It continued to repeated every time. So, what I did to resolve it, I went into UPDATE QuickBooks and forced it to reinstall all the updates, exited and close QB and stated it again.  Seems to have fixed it, as now I can run vendor reports.

 

Also, I am on Windows 11 Pro.
