QuickBooks Licensing Compliance Question

Hi there,

Hoping the community might be able to better address this as the reps I think were trying to upsell me:

I'm IT support for a business where 4 accountants need access to QuickBooks. Right now, I believe we have 2017 Accountant version and I'm pretty sure we don't fall into compliance with licensing.

I'm just looking to see what would be the best course of action here in terms of purchasing licenses for QuickBooks. We're not planning on doing the monthly plans, so standalone software is our focus.

One caveat is that the 4 users DO NOT need to use the file concurrently. (I stressed that to the rep, but they just flat out ignored it). They all sit fairly close to one another, so if someone has it open, they just ask that they close it so another person can use. They have no need for multi-user mode anyway.

I'm essentially looking for the cheapest solution here while still maintaining compliance. The rep told me to purchase Premier with 4 user licenses (~$1700) but I feel like I would be fine purchasing Pro with 3 user licenses and then additional Pro version with 1 user license (~$1200) since they do not need to use the file concurrently. I also do not think the need the added features that would come with Premier.

Can someone spot check me and make sure I'm understanding this correctly? This seems like the no brainer option but I have to stress licensing compliance is a big deal for us.

QuickBooks Licensing Compliance Question

Yes you are correct. If your accountant team doesn't need (i) working in multiuser mode nor (ii) some specific features available in Premier or Premier Accountant, you may purchase a license of QBD Pro for 3 users and another license of QBD Pro for 1 user.
