1099-NEC - Can we print without the optional kit?

In regards to 1099-NEC's, it says I can prepare my own 1099's in QB at no extra charge. However, it mentions about purchasing an optional 1099 kit. Can't I get 1099 forms online to print on from QB versus buying the 1099 kit?
