Account Sync

Hi, I just signed up for quickbooks and connected all my bank accounts and credit cards. I notice bank accounts are only syncing in 3 months and I need to run a report for an entire year (2023). How long does it take for this information to sync? Thank you in advance.

Let's get your bank transactions to show so you can get back to business, norma.

Before we start, may I know what bank is connected to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account? Any additional information would help us verify if there's an issue with the bank.

Also, when you connect an account for online banking, QuickBooks will download the 90 days or less of your entries. This process is automatic and cannot be opted out.

In the meantime, we can manually update your account. This refreshes the connection between your bank and the program. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Select the blue tile for your credit card account.
  3. Click the Update button.
  4. (Optional) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Update Bank Account.PNG

Once everything is good, you'll need to review and categorize them. You can check out this article for the detailed steps on how to do it: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, I'm adding this article that tackles reconciliation to ensure your account is balanced and accurate: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

I'm all ears if you have other banking concerns or questions about managing transactions in QBO. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care always.

@normab

You can use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo @ $60 one time license) as a workaround.

Thank you for the additional information, @normab.

I'll ensure you can get to see all your bank transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

As mentioned by my colleague above, In QuickBooks, if it's your first time connecting your bank to QuickBooks, the system will automatically download the 30 to 90 days of transactions and up to a year. Every time you sign into QuickBooks, it automatically downloads new transactions from your connected accounts.

You'll need to manually import them if you want the older transactions to be in QuickBooks. See the steps below:

  1. Open QuickBooks Self-Employed in a web browser.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and choose Imports.
  3. Select Import older transactions for the account that you want to add transactions into.
  4. Click Browse and find the file you downloaded from your bank. It's usually in your Downloads folder.
  5. Choose the file and select Open to start the import.
  6. Review the column headers and data. Make sure the Date, Description, and Amount columns on the CSV match the columns and order in QuickBooks. The other column headers can be in any order.
  7. Then, hit Continue to complete the import.

Please refer to this article for the step-by-step process: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once your older transactions are in QuickBooks, you can review and categorize them. Visit this article for future guidance: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please reply again to this thread if you have clarifications or additional queries about managing your bank transactions in QuickBooks. I'll be around to help you.
