Adding a project name to the assigned estimate number.

I'm a designer and would like to add the name of my project to the assigned estimate number in the upper left hand corner. So when I look through my list of estimates they're not just numbers but also include the name of the project.

Adding a project name to the assigned estimate number.

Being a designer requires a creative mind, and I applaud you for sharing your thoughts about having the option to add a project name instead of the estimate number, Hogyvagy. I'm here to share some information about the availability of this option.

You can utilize the custom field feature to include the project name in your estimates. Given you're unable to add a project name to the assigned estimate number directly, this alternative method enables you to monitor your projects on your estimates and other sales forms. You also only create 3 custom fields on sales forms in QuickBooks Online Plus and Essentials. For the Advanced version, you're able to add up to 12 active custom fields for each type of form.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings and select Custom fields

  2. Choose Add field. (If this is your first time creating a custom field, hit Add custom field.)

  3. Enter a name (ex. Project Name) in the Name field.
  4. Select a Data type and a category
  5. Choose Estimate or All Sales forms checkbox.
  6. (Optional) To show the custom field on printed and delivered forms, turn on Print on form. Otherwise, it’ll only appear in QuickBooks Online.
  7. Once done, click Save

Additionally, I understand how beneficial it is for you as a designer to be able to add a project name to the assigned estimate number, as this helps you determine and track your projects easily. In this case, I recommend submitting a feature suggestion about having the option directly to our Product Development Team. Your feedback helps us address any issues you may have encountered, contributes to improving our products, and guides us towards our development process to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to all our customers.

Let me walk you through the process:

  1. Locate the Gear icon.
  2. Under Profile, choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  4. Hit the Next button.
