That is not true - that error message appears for me as well - just started not too long ago. I use one computer and all my company files on on this computer and I use "Pro" and no Accountant copies or portable files. I have tried everything to get rid of this message.
I don't have qbhelper
I just deleted the Qbmaker files (3 of them) opened quickbooks - not pop ups yet!! that was 5 mnutes ago. Usually popsup immediately on opening. I thank you. I only hope it works for the long term.
My solution:
After 5-weeks of fighting this thing...
1) go to Task Manager
2) see if there is a file (while the error is displayed) QBMaker.exe and end the task
3) That should end it for a little bit - if it comes back, then click on the file location and delete it (after you end the task again)
4) my location for the file was in "C:/users/public/public documents/system64/sogt
5) date of my file showed 07/272023
6) there were other QBMaker files but I have not yet done anything with them yet
Relieved to have stopped this frustrating issue.
Previously, all my attempts with QB File Doctor, multiple full-bore virus scans and looking for files mentioned in other posts had no benefit. It problem did seem to take a weekend off about 2-weeks ago after a full scan with no detected findings.
Never had an issue with the integrity of the company file and the error would come on before I even selected the company file to load.
Hope this helps!
I have the same problem. If you go into Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE), click on the error (mine is called QBMaker 32 bit) and then "End Task" it will stay gone a lot longer than if you just hit the X in the corner of the error message itself. It doesn't get rid of it for good, but it at least gives you time to do something in between the pop ups.
It's gotta be a scam. These people somehow get access to our computers and then, Lo and Behold, we have this error and they want a ridiculous amount of money to fix it. Glad I didn't fall for it, but I'm sure some people do.
That worked well, and quickly. I was getting frustrated with the rate that the pop-up kept occurring, not even letting me get to "File/Utilities/repair file...."
My question would be. How does that file get on my computer in the first place?
Is it a virus or just something with QB? My virus software said it was malware and blocked it
