Now that Intuit has decided to phase out Desktop, has Intuit come up with any tool to migrate the attachments in bulk from desktop to online? i have read several blog posts and some mention a 3rd party apps, but nothing specific is suggested.. i have looked at the 3rd party apps, and it does not appear that any exist for a mass import & matching of attachments. this is years and years of information in desktop.... it would take several weeks of dedicated time, all day long, to manually and individually re attach in the online version. There has to be an easier way. please tell me there is something available.
Making it easy for you to migrate your attachments in bulk from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is my priority today, @Hilltop527. Let me give you insights about this feature.
At this time, we have ready-made steps on how to transfer your data from desktop to online. However, you need to insert your attachments manually to your transactions or client's information in QBO. I understand your interest in getting a migrator tool that could simplify the process of exporting your attachments. While the option is unavailable, I recommend sending a feature request directly to our product developers. This way, they can determine what enhancements and improvements are needed to make our product more effective and convenient for our users.
Here's how:
Once your entries are available in QBO, you can run through the resources from this article to get started and track your entries accordingly: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.
On the other hand, I'm adding these links for more hints while transferring your data from QBDT to QBO:

You can purchase a 3rd party service to convert data with attachments or other requirements (e.g purchase orders, estimates, jobs, custom fields) to QB Online. Contact me in private for details.
We went paperless 10 years ago and relied on QB Desktop to store and organize our files. Now, we are being forced into QB online and we lose 10 years worth of work. This needs to be fixed and FAST. How did Intuit not foresee this?
Same issue here. 10 years of paperless organization. Gone.
No third party apps support migration of attachments. You can purchase a 3rd party service to convert data with attachments to QB Online or another accounting app. Contact me in private for details.

Hi there, @MEALSO.
I recognize the challenges that you've encountered in your business about migrating your attachments.
Currently, In QuickBooks Online (QBO) we don't have the option to simply the migration of your attachments from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). I recommend submitting feedback to our product developers team for this feature.
For now, what we can do is look for a third-party app for migrating your attachments with QuickBooks Online.
I'll include this article to help you understand more about how your QBDT was moved to QBO: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
If you have additional questions about migrating, you can always click the Reply button. I'm always ready to help.
I find myself in the exact situation you described!!!!!
Years and years of paperless QB desktop internal filing!!!!
Now we expected to pitch the whole filing cabinet???????????
Challenges me to see the posts from seemingly QB? employees saying "solved" and you read thru their post, and it mentions re attaching manually!!! Seriously!! Like what 17 temps???? for 17 weeks??????
And then the mention of "third party"??? Did you ever find these third-party attachment migration specialists?
Thank you to anyone who can send me in the right direction!
Have you contacted Fiat Lux - ASIA ?
Hello - has anyone had experience with the attachment migration service Fourlane started offering?
Received this http://eepurl.com/iKVeSs the other day, had a consultation, and ready to go for it.
Been waiting 5 years for a service to help migrate 8k+ attachments.
Would love to hear anything about this service or the company anyone has to offer.
Much appreciated.
Keith
They said the fee for this service is usually around $5,500 + tax. Unless they lower the cost, it's too much.
We have better options to recommend:
1. Purchase a 3rd party service to convert data with attachment starting from $1,500, OR
2. Use the trial version of QB Desktop to access your historical data with attachments for good. You don't need to migrate the attachments data to QB Online.
4Gal - thanks so much for your response.
I always loved the idea of not migrating the attachments. However, if I am understanding suggestion #2, the users that only have access to QB Online would not have access to the attachments we leave behind with QB Desktop. Our attachments have become more operational than historical, and we find ourselves needing access to some that are decades old but not knowing in advance which ones. Which puts us back to needing to migrate them all.
With respect to suggestion #1, if you know of a 3rd party service, other than Fourlane, that could help us with migrating our attachments to QBO, please let me know!
Thanks,
Keith
You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA .
They've posted the service in this thread. Keep in mind, converting data with attachments can take weeks if you have large data to complete.
Please, I am still hung up on this. If someone has found a reasonable way to migrate QB desktop attachments to QBO, if someone has had 10 years of docs migrated successfully, please let the rest of us know!
You can use the trial version of QB Desktop to access your historical data with attachments for good as I mentioned earlier. Do you have any other concern?
Hi @Hilltop527
We have a third party data import utility called Zed Axis that you can find in the Intuit Apps Marketplace that will batch upload file attachments (spreadsheets, PDFs, Images etc) to list items like customer, items or vendor, and to transactions like invoices, sale receipts, purchases, bills, journal entries and bills into QuickBooks Online.
You can do that in batch if you data is arranged as follows:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MyAttachment1.pdf | Picture of the red widget | Invoice | 1001
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MyAttachment2.jpg | Picture of the green widget | Bill | 38789
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MyAttachment3.doc | Customer contract | Customer | ACME Inc
C:\Users\Public\Documents\MyAttachment4.jpg | Item product shot | Item | Red Widgit |
To get your attachment data out of QuickBooks desktop in a format that can be uploaded to QuickBooks Online will be available in our next version.
I hope that it is not too late for you but maybe this will be helpful for other users.

What service did you find for $1500? I am asking the client to contact FIAT.
Fiat Lux can help to convert your data with attachments to QB Online. But I would recommend choosing the trial version option to access your historical data to save budget.
You said that migration on attachments would be possible with the next version...IT IS NOT!!! Once again, QB's has screwed with us! This is ridiculous!!!
Which QB Desktop year version?
2024
Just like 4Gal mentioned earlier, I would recommend converting your data as-is to QBO. Then you will access your historical data including attachments with the trial version of QB Desktop Enterprise.
Hilltop did you ever get this migration figured out? I am still stuck as I was. Just wondering if you found a way to do this while I was not looking. Thanks so much!
