Bank feeds with 2 quickbooks online account

Our company decided to scrap our current account due to it being a huge mess left behind by the previous bookkeeper.  I want to set up a new account and simultaneously download all our data from the current QuickBooks account. Is this advisable?  And can I also set up the new account with our bank and credit card accounts to download bank feeds in real-time while the old account is still linked to them?

Bank feeds with 2 quickbooks online account

Hello there, @Mari-HI.

I am here to provide some insights about downloading your data from one QuickBooks Online (QBO) account to another and to link one bank account to your new QBO account.

If you want to download or transfer your data from your current QBO account to your new one, you can only move your lists.

When it comes to connecting your bank account with your new QBO account while it's still linked to your previous QBO account, it's possible to do so. However, it's important to note that you can only import transactions from the last 90 days on your first connection to your bank account.

If you want to download other previous transactions, you can manually download them. Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking, then select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload.
  3. Pick the Link account dropdown and then Upload from the file.
  4. Choose Drag and Drop or select Files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then choose Continue.
  5. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then select Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps, then select Continue.
  7. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then select Continue. Select Yes.
  8. When you've accepted your transactions, select Done.

After uploading them, you can review the uploaded files and categorize them. Visit this page for guidance: Categorize online bank transactions.

Moreover, I'm adding this helpful article as your reference in reconciling your bank transactions to track accurately: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Come back to this post if you have further concerns or follow-up questions about connecting bank accounts and uploading bank transactions in QuickBooks Online. I'll be here to lend a helping hand. Have a good one!

@Mari-HI

I would recommend to convert your data from the old QBO account to a QB Desktop file format. You can use the trial version to access your historical data for good. Then you can start from scratch in the new QBO account.

Thank you.  Sorry May I ask for clarification:

Are you suggesting that with the old account I convert to a desktop version and then upload the data to a trial version for easier access?

@Mari-HI

Use the trial version of QB Desktop to access the converted file. If you convert it again to the trial version of QB Online, you will need extra effort every time you need it.
