Batch Update Company Files to Newer Version of QuickBooks Desktop

Hi,

Is there a way to batch update company files to a newer version of QuickBooks Desktop instead of having to update each company file one by one?

Batch Update Company Files to Newer Version of QuickBooks Desktop

Greetings, @jeffrey10013.

I would like to share some information about batch updating company files in QuickBooks Desktop, as opposed to updating each file individually.

When upgrading to a newer version of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Enterprise, you are required to update each company file individually. This process only needs to be done once.

However, QuickBooks File Manager is a standalone application designed for QuickBooks Accountants and QuickBooks Enterprise Accountants. It stores company files, along with usernames and passwords, in a secure environment.

  • The batch upgrade greatly reduces the time of upgrading company files by upgrading all selected files at once.
  • You can batch upgrade files by going to Batch Upgrade Clients Upgrade selected files.

Note: You’ll be able to view all unsuccessful upgrades within this window by selecting List unsuccessful Upgrades.

For more detailed information you can check this article: Learn the basics about QuickBooks File Manager

In addition, I will be providing you with articles that will assist you in understanding how to transfer your QuickBooks Desktop company file to QuickBooks Online, as well as how to move your company files to a different folder on your computer, on and off your network, or to another computer in QuickBooks Desktop.

You need to upgrade the file individually. Otherwise, purchase a 3rd party service to do so.

BS. How do we "go to" this (apparently) menu?

Thanks for joining this thread, steve14. I'm here to ensure you'll see and utilize the Batch Upgrade.

QuickBooks File Manager is a standalone application designed for QuickBooks Accountants and QuickBooks Enterprise Accountants. To see the Batch Upgrade menu, you'll need to open your QuickBooks File Manager by clicking the QuickBooks File Manager icon or navigating to your QuickBooks Desktop company file and then go to your Accountant menu.

Afterward, you'll be able to upgrade your selected files. You can also see all unsuccessful upgrades within this window by clicking the List Unsuccessful Upgrades option.

Here's how:

  1. Go to your Accountant menu then click the QuickBooks File Manager.
  2. Click Launch QuickBooks File Manager. You can skip steps 1 and 2 if you choose to open your QuickBooks File Manager on your Desktop.
  3. If you haven't set up your profile yet, enter your Username and preferred Password. Fill out the other details indicated. If you have an existing profile, you can enter your Username and Password.
  4. Once done, you can click the Batch Upgrade.
  5. Press Clients, and then Upgrade the selected files.
