Hi,
So I am currently using custom price-level lists for specific customers but I was wondering how I can block all items that I have not put on to the custom price-level list. I want to only allow invoices/sales orders to be created with items under the custom list and to block all others.
Please help!
Thanks,
Derrick
Hi there, @DerrickFung!
You have the option to inactivate your items. I'm here to help you accomplish this so you can exclude them from creating your invoices and sales orders.
To start with, all items that are inactive will not show on the item list when you create an invoice or sales order. With this, it'll be blocked or cannot be added when you create your transactions.
Thus said, here's how you can inactivate your items:
In addition, selecting Include inactive will show all your inactivated items on the list. You can also select Make Item Inactive if you'll want to add a custom price-level for your inactivated items.
Let me know in the comment section below if you have any other questions. It'll always be my pleasure to help.
Hi,
How do I do this for one specific customer only? I would like to still have these items active for my other customers.
Thanks,
Derrick
Hello, @DerrickFung.
Thank you for the prompt response. Allow me to join the conversation and share some information about items.
The inactivate function in QuickBooks is used to keep items from displaying within the list. Making it available to a few customers is currently unavailable.
If you’re still going to apply these to some of your transactions, leave it active. For more information about items, check out this article: Add, edit, and delete items.
That should answer your concern for today.
Let me know if you have any questions, I’m always here to keep helping. Have a pleasant day ahead!
So is there no way to exclude it from some customers? I'm asking as my new staff might know better and include them in new transactions for a specific customer.
Thanks!
Hi again, @DerrickFung.
I’m here to provide some clarification about items.
Yes, that’s right. With QuickBooks, you can only add, edit, inactivate and delete items.
Excluding some customers in using a specific item on a transaction is currently unavailable. Please refer to the same article I shared on my previous response for reference.
That should do it. If you need anything else, let me know. I’m more than happy to help.
Thank you - on a second note, is there a way I can import/upload a price level list? Instead of manual edit?
Thanks!
Thanks for the response, @DerrickFung.
Allow me to chime in and help share some information about importing price level list.
Importing price levels in QuickBooks Enterprise is not available at this time. However, I believe there are third party apps who can make this possible.
You may try searching for an app on this link: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.
Should you need additional information about price levels, please let me know. I'm here to help.
Is the functionality of being able to import price level available yet?
Thanks for following up about this, @940alex.
We can no longer export or import the list when there are price levels per item type. That said, this type of functionality is currently available in QuickBooks Desktop.
In the meantime, I'd suggest utilizing a third-party app. This way, you can finish your task and manage the price level list without delay. To search for an appropriate app, click this link: Supported App in QuickBooks Desktop.
