Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowI used to work for a company that uses QuickBooks. When the company had me create an account using my company email address, they made me use my own personal cell phone number for the verification. I left that company months ago, but I keep getting Intuit codes texted to my cell phone, and it's making me paranoid that someone is trying to hack into my own personal account that I use for TurboTax each year.
My previous boss refuses to remove my cell phone from the business account, and I can't log in to that account since they changed the password after I left. Is there any way for me to remove my cell phone number from the company's account?
I recognize the urgency of being able to change the phone number of the QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Brea5.
I'll share information on how you can do it to stop receiving Intuit verifications.
For security reasons, only an admin can make changes to the Intuit Account. Our support team doesn't have access to update or modify your account information.
With this, only the admin of the QBO account can remove the phone number associated with the account. That said, I recommend reaching out to your boss so they can modify the phone number for you.
For a detailed process about recovering an account, check out this article: Recover your Intuit Account if you can’t sign in.
Here's also how you can update or change your email address, user ID, password, and other information for a QBO account: Update or change your Intuit Account sign-in information.
Let me know if you need further assistance with updating information on the QBO account. I'm always here to assist. Take care always.

Thank you for reaching out, @Finessina6ag. I understand how important it is to ensure your account information, such as your phone number, is correct so you can securely access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account without any issues. Let’s work together to resolve this so you can continue with your tasks.
If your phone number is incorrect and you’re unable to receive verification codes to log in, we can submit an Account Recovery Request to update your contact information. This process ensures that your account remains secure while we verify your identity and make the necessary changes.
As part of the verification procedure, please prepare valid identification documents, such as a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or notarized document. Then, start filling out the form using this link: Proof of identity.
Our team will assess your submission, and within one business day, you'll receive an email from no_response@intuit.com outlining the next steps to complete the recovery process. Please note that our review takes place from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.
Once we've verified your account, sign in to your Intuit account and turn off 2-step verification. Enter your password, then select Continue. A message will confirm this setting, and you will receive an email indicating that your security preference has been updated.
If your concern pertains to something else entirely, please feel free to clarify and elaborate further. I’m here to assist you and provide the right solution for your situation.
Restoring your access and resolving this matter is our top priority. If you have further questions about the recovery process, please don’t hesitate to click the Reply button below. I'm here to help. Take care.
