Since the first of the year, every time I boot up, through the cloud and into QuickBooks, I am asked to sign in as administrator. I sign in but I am not the administrator.  I then get a pop up telling me I can only be in QB for a certain amount of time in 24 hours????s, WTH??    Am I now limited to the amount of time I can be in QuickBooks doing the books?  the administrator does payroll, and If I need to get into QuickBooks 20 times, what business is it of QuickBooks?  This is insane.  So now I am going to be limited on the time I can do the books in QB?  I am more than angry about this overstep in policy.  Get off and out of my QuickBooks account, it's none of your business how long I stay in QB.

Managing accounting records requires seamless software access, and I recognize how disruptive technical interruptions can be to your daily financial workflow, Carol.

Let's work side-by-side to resolve your QuickBooks authentication issues, ensuring seamless access to your financial system.

Rebooting QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) restarts the application and refreshes its system processes to improve performance. After this process, QuickBooks requires administrator sign-in credentials to ensure security and maintain access control, protecting sensitive data and allowing only authorized users to make changes.

Regarding the login periods for QuickBooks, administrators can set user session durations from 2 to 90 days. Since you're receiving pop-ups indicating you can only work in QuickBooks for a certain amount of time in 24 hours, I recommend installing the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix these access issues. This tool is designed to fix common errors within the program.

Before proceeding, let's update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. An outdated version of QuickBooks can cause various technical issues. Afterward, let's run the QuickBooks Tool Hub.

I'll show you how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool HubSave the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  6. Once the QuickBooks Tool Hub is open, select Program Problems.
  7. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  8. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

Once done, we can restart your computer to ensure the components are accurately updated. Moreover, if the same error occurs, I recommend following Solution 2 mentioned in this article: QuickBooks Desktop won't open.

Lastly, here are articles you can read for more information about managing your books and completing year-end tasks, and preparing for the new year in QBDT:

You can always share any additional QBDT authentication challenges you're experiencing. Just drop them in the comments below. I'm committed to providing support and finding a resolution.

@Carolexx

I boot up, through the cloud

Do you run QB locally or host it on a third-party service provider?

We use Rights Network as the cloud storage provider for our QuickBooks.

We work in different offices and close out our QB database after each use.  Having these pop ups threatening me with not being able to access the database and do my work is outrageous.  I want it stopped so I don't have more to worry about like being locked out.  why should I have to spend my time trying to correct problems with QuickBooks.  I have a lot of work on my plate and am not going to spend it opening up some fix-it tool that has never worked in the past to fix anything.  I suggest QB start fixing it's errors.

I am the accountant, not the administrator so this toolhub thing does not work on my computer as it has to be done by the administrator.  So, I have been working in this database for 6 years without interruption but now, for some odd reason, I need the administrator, who works in a separate office, to boot up and get into the database to do my work.  absurd.

Good afternoon, @Carolexx

We appreciate you coming back and letting us know some further information and that you are the accountant for the account. I can see how frustrating this can be and would get in the way of your work day.

However, I recommend submitting your feedback to our Product Developers about this situation: How do I submit feedback?

They take the time to review every request and try to add it to the next available update.

I'm only a response away if you have any other questions. Take care!

I called support and found out that the reason for the pop ups was because I was not working in the newest edition of QuickBooks Enterprise.  Although I called last spring when I received the first notice and was told I was working in the updated version, apparently....I was not!!  so, we did the update yesterday and hopefully there will be no more pop up issues to deal with and my work can continue.  Thank you all for your comments.
