Classes. We used classes in 2023 and don't want to in 2024. How do I turn off the notifications regarding "you forgot to enter a class for one or more transactions"...

 

In 2023 it just caused more work than help and we are going to give it a year without classes to see how if it works better for us. How do I remove classes? I keep getting notifications to classify things.

Hey there, KSchadel.

 

Thanks for bringing your question forward here in the Community. I'm happy to show you how to remove classes from your QuickBooks Desktop account.

 

This can be done in just a few steps. Here's how:

 

1. Open your company file.
2. Go to the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
3. Choose Accounting, then go to the Company Preferences tab.
4. Click to uncheck the Use class tracking for transactions box.
5. Select OK when you're finished.

 

By completing these steps you'll no longer be prompted to select a Class and the Class field will be unavailable, but all existing transactions with Classes will remain the same.
