Is the user added under just the main Windows screen on the computer or is it setup on QuickBooks as a new admin user?
Thank you BYAO, Worked like a charm, spent most of the day with this.
Thank you
new user in Windows, not QB. Click on the Windows buttons and start typing User and you should see "add, edit user" setting. Add your new user profile and set it as administrator.
Thank you, I did add a new windows user. This did not resolve the problem either.
Hello there, @moff. Thank you for the update.
Let me guide you on the next steps you need to take to help resolve the issue so you can utilize the Incorporate Accountant's Changes button in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
I can tell that you've already performed the recommended fixes in this thread. Since none of them resolved the issue you have, I would encourage you to reach out to our Technical Support team. The Community is a public forum, and we'll need to collect some personal information to pull up your account. They can create a case to trigger an investigation and get the issue fixed in no time. Here's how:
Also, I'll include one of our Help pages in case you need a reference in completing your everyday tasks for each of your client's using QBDT: QuickBooks Lear and Support. You'll find QuickBooks help articles, Community discussions with other users, and video tutorials, to name a few.
Let me know in the comments below how it goes. If you have other concerns about the accountant's changes in QBDT, I'm always around to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @moff.
As a CPA trying to get the changes into clients computers I don't know if I feel comfortable adding a user to their computer?? Seems like QB should have had a fix by now!
After hours online with Quickbooks support, they decided this is a bug. The workaround is to have your accountant send a .QBW file instead of a .QBY file. I hope this works.
That's not a reasonable workaround unless you are OK with losing everything you've done in QuickBooks since you sent the accountant the file.
Sounds like many of us are having the same issue. Unable to incorporate accountant's changes even though we can see them on the screen and in my case even print them. When pressing the incorporate accountant's changes button the little blue wheel appears for a split second and then NOTHING,ZERO! ZILCH! NADA! NIENTE!
Personally, I felt pressured by Intuit to upgrade back in May because every time I opened the software it was warning me that they were no longer going to support my 2019 version. After spending 3 hours on the phone over 3 conversations with the technicians someone finally revealed to me that it was a known issue and Intuit was working on it. In the mean time we wait in limbo; unable to reconcile the books and concerned that any work or changes we make in the company file could be lost when this problem is finally fixed. I'll be calling customer service again tomorrow and everyday until I get some results. Hopefully the rest of you will too!
I'm going to follow Rea_M's suggestion above to have them contact me, every day until they get this fixed. I just talked with an Accountant Care rep and he said they are working on it. This thread is at least 3 weeks old, so it doesn't seem like it's a priority.
88Stearns, that would create a problem as you cannot transfer across more than a one-year/version difference, and 2019 no longer supports accountant's transfers. So, that is an issue, but it's a different issue from what this original thread addresses.
This is absolutely absurd! The intuit reps in this thread have provided completely useless advice and insist on us contacting customer service, which several people have done multiple times, and found absolutely no help except for, after lengthy sessions, a vague assertion that they're aware something is wrong and it is being "worked on" somewhere. This is clearly a bug in the last software update, and those of us who have it are in difficult straits. Why is there no more concrete advice and an action plan? I have spent many, many hours finding a fix for this and just had to pay an IT specialist to map drives so that my new windows user can access all the files on the server. QuickBooks is supposed to SAVE me time, not cause more headaches and expense. We are already harassed every two weeks to sign up to some online security "improvement", and now this issue, which is practically ignored - we are talking here about not being able to download accountant copies!!!! This is NOT a small matter. Thank God someone on the board found a work-around - for that I am truly grateful - but Intuit's support in this is not what it should be, or what it used to be. Very discouraging.
Having the same issue here! I agree it is absurd there is not a fix yet! What's the deal Intuit?!?
I am having the same issue as well. I'm not willing to create windows user profiles on client's computers to "fix" this issue. If anyone has other options, or if Intuit has repaired, please post. I have already had an hour long conversation with QB technical support and they didn't seem to have any knowledge of widespread issue.
Technical support team is of no use. They don't even seem aware of this issue.
Same issue here and QuickBooks seems to be of no help whatsoever. Between the horrible service, all the glitches, and the upcoming price increase, it seems QuickBooks will soon become a thing of the past. I know that I am no longer so quick to recommend it anymore!
Hi there, rwill39.
I know how crucial to get the accountant’s corrections incorporated into your company file. To ensure that this will be taken care of I'd recommend contacting our technical supports again. I understand that you already did this, but I'd still encourage giving us another chance to help you out.
Additionally, here's an article that you can read to help rectify common issues when importing and exporting accountant's changes:
If you have any other concerns or questions, just leave them below. The Community always has your back.
Seriously...this needs an update to fix it. I've tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked. This is an important issue and it sure seems like Quickbooks is taking their sweet time to resolve it!
I have done this three separate times. The last person logged into my computer, redid all the things I had already done and then told me that the problem was with my computer and I needed to install quickbooks on another computer, restore my data backup, incorporate the changes, create backup, etc. I borrowed a computer and did this. The same problem occurred. So this was another 2 hours down the drain.
When I called back (for the 4th time), I was told that my only solution was to hand enter the changes.
How can you read all of the messages on this thread & still post this response??? Why isn't there an update to fix this issue? Obviously everyone on this thread is having the same issue, so please do something!
Same issue going to try the windows user idea
Hi there, bookeeper89.
I understand that things have been challenging for you and that it's not the sort of experience we want you to have while importing Accountant's changes. I'll be sharing troubleshooting information to ensure you can get back on track by following the troubleshooting details below.
Unexpected or unusual results while importing an Accountant's Changes to a company file are might be caused by the Accountant's Copy restriction being removed or by possible data damage on the company file. To start fixing this issue, I recommend making sure that you're utilizing the company file that has pending Accountant's Changes.
If the issue persists, you'll have to copy the Accountant's Changes locally if you are importing the Accountant's Changes from a portable drive (USB or thumb drive). Then, if your company file is kept on a server, either copy the company file to the local drive or import the Accountant's Changes on the server.
You can open this article to see further details and how to perform other solutions so you can resolve the problem: Resolve errors and unexpected results when importing accountant's changes.
However, if the issue continues to occur, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account in a safe environment and be able to investigate the cause of the problem regarding the Accountant's changes. Then, why the possible this kind of case keep happening. You can follow the steps shared by
Rea_M on how to reach them.
Lastly, you may refer to this article to view various details about Accountant's Copy limitations and what you can and can't do in Accountant's Copy: Use the Accountant's Copy.
Please click the Reply button below if you have other concerns about the accountant's changes in QBDT. I'm always here to help. Have a great day, bookeeper89.
You cannot be serious with this reply. READ ALL OF THE THREADS ON THIS WEBSITE. Most of us have been using QB for 20+ years. We are very well versed on how to incorporate Accountant's changes and how to troubleshoot problems. WE ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. This is a QB issue!!! I've even reached out to local CPAs in my area, and they're having the same problem. FIX. IT. And STOP posting these stupid "fixes."
ChristieAnn, thank you for what seems to be your sincere desire to help us with this frustrating issue. However, if you will read through this thread, you will see that others have suggested the same steps you offered and many in this thread have tried the same steps to no avail. This issue is due to a bug in the latest update. It is not going away until Intuit fixes it with another update. As several in this thread have stated, and I can verify, Intuit knows about this problem - they have known about this problem for at least 2 weeks - and they have yet to give us a solution. I do not understand why a company would sabotage their own software and not work as hard and as quickly as possible to fix the issue. I echo the sentiment of a few others in this thread - it is getting more and more difficult to recommend QuickBooks - especially with other solutions being introduced to the market every day. Please do whatever you can to send a message to the people who can actually fix this issue!
