Column widths

I have searched the Q&A and can't seem to find anything on this subject.

When I go into the ENTER BILLS screen, the columns in the bottom section where your enter the G/L account, amount, class, etc. keeps changing. Is there a way to lock this so it doesn't keep doing this every time?

I'm using QB Desktop 21.0

Hi RickH520.

Being able to modify your Enter Bills screen is a great way to customize your QuickBooks Desktop to best suit your needs. I'd be happy to help you with getting your columns sizes changed.

In order to change the columns size you just need to click and drag the three dots at the end of any columns name. Once you save the bill it also saves the sizing of the columns. There is a minimum size for the columns though and if you make one smaller than what's allowed in the system it'll move back to the minimum size for that column.

If you want to be able to remove the minimum size limit I recommend reaching out to our development team and request that the limit be removed or have the option to remove it. You can send feedback to them by going to: Help>Send Feedback Online>Product suggestions. Once they receive your feedback they'll look into ways to possibly include this in future updates.

If you have any questions let us know and we'd be happy to help.

Column widths

I have a similiar question.  In QB desktop 2024, I want to have all my vendor bills show the same column width.  I tried the tip above, but it does not keep the column widths.  Is there anyway to permanently set the widths in the on screen entry?

Implementing column width adjustments for vendors in QuickBooks Desktop 2024 (QBDT) is a great idea, WoodvaleFacility. However, this feature is currently unavailable.

In QBDT 2024, there is no built-in option to permanently adjust column widths for vendor bills. Each time you close and reopen the program, the column widths may revert to their default settings.

I encourage you to submit feedback for feature suggestions for this option to our Product Development Team; they can consider incorporating it in future product updates.

Here's how to send feedback:

  1. Click on the Help menu located at the top of the QuickBooks window.
  2. In the dropdown menu, select Send Feedback Online, then click Product Suggestion.
  3.  A window will appear allowing you to provide your feedback.
  4.  Once you have filled out your comments, click on the Send Feedback button to submit your feedback to Intuit.
