We have been using Quickbooks online for years, but only to track accounts receivable and prepare payroll. We use Quickbooks desktop for all other activity on a cash basis only. Thus, no accounts receivable, accounts payable, or payroll (except the checks entered net, with a journal entry to gross up the taxes and liabilities) in the Quickbooks desktop version. We would like to merge the two, and use Quickbooks online for everything going forward. I know the migration tool is not an option since we are past the 60 day mark. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I appreciate you for sharing the in-depth details of your concern, @Tkoisme. I recognize how essential it is to easily merge your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) data into your existing QuickBooks Online (QBO) company file. Let me share some details about it.
You're correct that you only have 60 days from the time you create your QBO account to move your data.
Nonetheless, QuickBooks is integrated with hundreds of third-party software developers. Although I cannot suggest any specific app, I can guide you to a website where you can search for an application that enables you to merge your QBDT data to your existing QBO company. Let me show you how:
You can also look for a third-party app outside the QuickBooks website.
When you switch to QBO, you may notice differences in how your books appear. But no worries, we have an article to help you understand how your data are moved. See these resources for more details:
The Community is always open if you have other questions about migrating QBDT data into QBO. I'll be around to help. Have a good one!
You can purchase a 3rd party data merge service or use a migration tool.
